after i get out the shower and my hair is damp i apply like maybe a coin sized amount of medium hold pomade, that's what makes my hair sit flat since it's naturally quite poofy. after that i'll just brush it all back and to the side, and then make a parting and brush the smaller segment in the opposite direction. after that i blow-dry both sides back briefly so they lie flatter, and then ill run my hand over my hair quickly so to just sweep it back abit for volume. pic related is what my hair looks like after i'm done, it starts to gradually look like the other picture i posted throughout the day.

If something is a hair wax, that means it uses wax in its ingredients. Typically it will mean it has a higher hold.

Pomade, generally, is for slick looks. Usually shiny. And there are such things as wax pomades, too.

You might be like me. I thought I had dandruff or scalp psoriasis for a long time, but it turns out it was a dry scalp, and all the anti-dandruff shampoos or normal shampoos would make it worse eventually by drying my scalp more. I use a scalp moisturizer cream that I apply for an hour after I shower. It works amazingly and my hair is super soft afterwards. I don't use shampoo, but I do use conditioner occasionally.

A pomade/putty with strong hold and strong shine plus some hair spray.
Unless you have really straight hair it's a lot of work though, you have to get your hair to grow towards the back and conform to your head shape first first by just repeatedly brushing and blow-drying it towards the back day after day after day until that's eventually how it flows naturally, then affix it with your products.

go to the store and looking for american crew pomade- a little pricey, but it's what you want. apply a nickle sized amount to your hair after you towel dry it in the shower. experiment with similar products to find a bargain, but i guarantee the crew pomade will give you that effect.

otherwise, get some Murray's pomade. it's real shit. i used it for a while, gives a GREAT look- was my favorite product ever, but it's actually oil based so getting it out of your hair is a complete bitch.

imo, and it is just my opinion, don't let your barber thin it any more, it just creates unevenness in your growth pattern that ends up having the shorter hairs stick up underneath your longer hairs, adding to the poof.

i know no-poo is regarded as a meme, but at least try to limit your shampooing. your hair (at least my hair used to,) is producing tons of oils bc it is accustomed to an environment where the oils are stripped away every other day. it'll take a while of kind of looking greasy (especially if you're blonde like i was,) but the pay is worth the reward. had lucious fucking locks)

Personally I'd like it more if the undercut part was a bit longer and only cut with scissors instead of a machine, but it's going to look that way in a few weeks anyways. Looks good though.

You should really get rid off that neckbeard though in my opinion. The beard itself is great, but if you shave that neck part it's going to accentuate your face a lot better, especially when you are looking straight ahead and down. It also just looks a hell of a lot more professional in general.

Pretty much any barber should be able to cut that. The problem is are you able to style it yourself in the morning?
Getting that messy look just right and have it stay the entire day is a huge fucking pain in the ass. I used to have a style similar to it and just ended up giving up after a while, it always took me a handful of attempts to get it just right and I really didn't want to wake up at 4am just to be able to consistently style my hair.
