Favourite is probably The Forgotten Soldier by Guy Sajer. Whether or not it really is a true story, it's still a good read. I love firsthand accounts from the second world war.

This is very true, fuck his talks. Fuck some of his books too, like Lenin 2017 which is a re-write of his old one.

Also while How to Read Lacan and Sublime Object are very different (former going more into psychoanalysis) they use so many of the same jokes and anecdotes it's like a constant deja vu.

Don't watch his lectures, watch his interviews and read his books on contemporary issues (Violence) and history (In Defense of Lost Causes) and maybe one on his theory of ideology (Sublime Object).

even if its a girl on the train or dan brown's new book. any book thats decent or better is worth the read and in a sense /fa/. especially classic literature has good character development that we classify "romantic" since the romantic period basically. this sense of "romance" is a very similar (if not the same) type of emotion we attach to our """personal style""" or """good fashion""". even if we dont associate ourself with the main character (think steppenwolf, the double, etc) we still understand the character because the writer can explain his/her situation so well.

non-fiction like philosophical pleads or psychological essays are also "effay" in a sense, because we associate them with our idea of educated people, something seen as "effay" in modern culture (movies and modern literature have been a great influence on this). an exception to this is controversial topics like communism or "disproven philosophical theories" as showcased in this thread
id say any form of reading is effay. even reading a communist book as a 'hardcore liberal' is okay, because why would expanding your knowlegde be a bad thing? dont assume someones intention (and thus personality) based on the book they read. the same goes for books like infinite jest, on which people argue about the amount of praise it deserves. desu quality of art is party subjective and besides that, u can still read a book thats not "the best". you dont cook the best food everyday and you dont wear your best fit everyday.
a few exception to "all reading is effay" are
>literal whos that make a book to get money, think celebs, athletes, youtubers, biographies of actors/tv personalities etc

I'm a big fan of reading about war, and the mindset of someone in war or leading it, being in all of this chaos and trying to cut through the fog and understand what's going on, what the adversary must be thinking, what his plans must be and managing a fight while every single person participating is rapidly shifting from being confident and excited that they're winning, to horror that you may be overrun and killed, constantly evaluating the situation while being mostly unsure of your sides strength vs the enemy as the fight progresses and you're trying to fight the panic etc.

Pudel is nice, I've actually seen a good techno act there, but übel und gefährlich strongly depends on the floor. Ballsaal can be very crowded at bigger shows and there are annoying stairs in the room, but I haven't seen a bad show in the Turmzimmer so far.

not a huge fan of Traumprinz, I don't like the lyrics, but I enjoy the other three after the first hearing. I've expected something to happen after the build up at the end of the Vril song. I really liked the Blazej Malinowski and the Rodhad tracks, I'd actually listen to this on a ride home on the weekend. Haven't finished the Prince of Denmark album for obvious reasons, but I've skipped through the album and haven't found any parts that I've disliked, but I don't see myself listen to it for 3 hours.

With her situation, it's different though. She supports a system that was going to murder her family. Her Dad passed away last year and never got over the heartbreak and disappointment in his daughter who has never had a job and lived in the families guesthouse.

nice, thanks! I watch people of boiler room every now and then and the boiler room merzbow set is really entertaining. I don't have the time to listen to every track in full length now, but I'll give a short resume of my first impressions!

Regal and Boston 168 - Terror Acid: there's little bit too much going on for my taste. I see the appeal and it's danceable, but it's not mine, but I've heard the Regal song till the end.

smitten song was pretty good, I liked the break at the 1:22 mark, the bass going down at minute 3 was nice too. Still many things going on at the same time and a bit too fast.

Boston 168 - Oblivion: nice atmosphere, the BPM are good too, not as fast as the other tracks. I'd hear music like this on a regular basis, my favorite one of the first group, nice cover art too.

Cryptik, interesting song, not sure wether this "pong" sound is polyrhythmic or just thrown in at random times. Buildup and atmosphere is great, I love the 808(?) rhythm and the synth melody that starts at 6:30. Again, I'm a fan of the cover. Favorite one of this group.

SHDW & Obscure Shape: Songtitel is edgy, I like that. I don't know why, but I'm not feeling this one.

I Hate Models: too many changes in the drum line beginning, but I like track after the 2:30 mark. In a club I'd love the track, but I don't think that I'd be in the right mood to listen to it in my spare time.

Amelie Lens, I like the vocal sample, it's used a bit often though. Another song that I'd like in a club, but wouldn't need on my ipod.

Boiler Room SNTS: started at the 5 min mark, really remembers me of a set that I've heard at a club before, great part, listened till minute 9, then I've started skipping around, nice set, might listen at home.

Rrose: I like the experimental approach, but the music itself annoys me.The guy at 36:46 is great though.

Len Faki: I can't make up my mind on this one. I guess it's the "good in a club" category.

Oblivion and Radiance Figure were my favorites!

it's nice to hear new people's thoughts to techno in detail like this, I found what you wrote engaging. I would recommend when you have more free time give the tracks/sets more of a complete listen. because as you know with blackmetal/shoegaze, the build up is quite slow but is important to get the full atmosphere of the track.
