i'm gonna try to set up a grailed soon and i'll post it here but these threads seem to reflect the issue with the site. too many very average pieces sold at near-market prices. people need to learn that super basic stuff should be dirt cheap and for bundle deals. should be a general rule on grailed that things have to be a tiny bit unique/rare

It's obvious from the responses in this thread that there's at least one guy who has a personal vendetta against the site, probably because he got perma banned for being a scam artist. For fuck's sake there are people here who don't even know that off site transactions are against the rules after the site's been operating on the same set of rules for years. For better or worse the site's pulling in more money than ever thanks to the Hype section, so your personal fantasies of the site burning to the ground are likely going to go unfounded.

Yeah, it's hard to deny that the initial period of operating with only Paypal fees was great, and that was one of the main draws. Even then it was pretty clear that this would change because there wasn't a tenable business model. Fee-wise it's still better than Ebay, but it doesn't have the extra features like shipping benefits.
>>12985235
The site's run by a small handful of people and at least two of them are keeping a close watch on the subreddit to try and help users. A cursory glance at a subreddit that is basically a secondary customer service/complaints page doesn't tell you anything about how they are being resolved or even if they are resolved.

The promised 'safety' from grailed is a fucking joke and they don't handle the community well at all, the articles are also just plain terrible and it seems like they are just shooting everywhere trying to cover as much ground as possible making one day articles about some obscure avant garde designer and adidas collab the next and while there is nothing wrong with that, the lack of focus means both of them are shit.

grailed is a startup that took venture capitalist money, which means they have to pay it back. one sign of 'panic' when a startup realizes they aren't actually making much money is try a million things at once (e.g. their women's site, articles, etc)

I don't want to sound preachy here, but you're forgetting a basic aspect of business. Why do consignment stores take such a massive cut of the sale prices? Your items are being put up for sale in an arena that attracts more customers than you holding a garage sale in your neighborhood. It's the same for any storefront that takes your items for display, online or not. That along with the purchase process being fully integrated with Paypal mostly accounts for the fees. The protection process really needs a lot of improvement though.
The articles I'm really not a fan of because they're clearly sourcing them from really young people/students, and as for the community, who knows what to do there
>>12985440
While I can't speak for the financial status of the site in general, I can say "a million things at once" does not mean launching a women's site nearly two years after starting to post articles. Your argument isn't particularly strong when you frame it like that with "etc" and no other examples.

>> No.12985712

>>12985430

This guy is 100% right. Explain to me what Grailed protection even is. Oh you mean the protection PayPal already offers? Thanks I had that before Grailed was a thing and before Grailed introduced their "protection". Articles are also trash, but it seems to me like a desirable place to work so it's pretty shocking that they can't get someone who isn't a complete meme writer.

>>12985440
They announced Heroine a long time after they began Dry Clean Only and not to mention they clearly took their time before rolling it out, as it was announced a while ago and only launched within the last few months.

>>12985508
>but you're forgetting a basic aspect of business.
I'm not, grailed just offers very little in that term especially for the cut they are getting
It's way fucking easier to move shit on facebook groups and such and the worst case scenario is Paypal getting 3% fee there, most of the time you can hustle with no fees. When that's what they are competing against, they should offer fucking something for their 300% higher fees. But they don't. They treat the community like shit, pull dumb shit on regular basis (the shitshow with Paypal business accounts comes to mind)
Grailed 100 is nice, have to give them that but they are already fucking getting paid for selling that shit once a year, I'm not sure if that's really worth 10% off everything.

>> No.12985774

>>12985727
>It's way fucking easier to move shit on facebook groups and such
If you don't like the benefits of only having to upload in a single place that reaches thousands of people then just don't use the site. It's that simple.
>They treat the community like shit, pull dumb shit on regular basis (the shitshow with Paypal business accounts comes to mind)
Paypal business accounts were fucking terribly handled, but you haven't provided any other evidence of "treating the community like shit" or "dumb shit on a regular basis" at all. Your vendetta is showing.

>If you don't like the benefits of only having to upload in a single place that reaches thousands of people then just don't use the site.
this isn't any kinda answer m8, you are just bragging how grailed is supposedly better when I just stated shit moves better in facebook groups
>you haven't provided any other evidence of
Well I mean neither are you for your last point but there is lot of cases, I don't actually care enough to ask for screenshots from all the people to prove grailed shill (or do you actually work for grailed?) wrong on anonymous coming to terms with gayness peer support website
I have no 'vendetta', Grailed is just pure shit, I mean ebay is equally as shit, depop is equally as shit, Vestiaire is equally as shit, I don't mind stating that but I don't have """"""vendetta""""" against any of the sites, don't try to paint the fucking users who are fed up with the sites garbage as the bad guys here. It's just especially disappointing because Grailed actually started as something good and what seemed like reasonable alternative.

Not at all, the upside I talked about is the exact same as Ebay or any other popular website with the same functionality.
The problem with presenting other peoples' experiences as evidence is that there is no follow-up on them. You don't know if the issues have been resolved or not like I said above. Picking up on a general feeling of unhappiness with the site is extremely easy when you're looking through rebbit and anonymous posts like the ones in this thread, but is very likely inaccurate to the larger picture. You and I both agree that they have a lot to improve on in the end.
Also, I don't work for the site, but I've sold ~$30000 of clothing with perfect feedback. I've been scammed a couple times through purchases but got my money back each time without needing to go to support.

This guy gets it.

It's hard to watch a good thing go downhill, and that's all he's saying more or less.

Perhaps there is still time to save it.
