I already have enough of these so no, but I recommend them to everyone. The finns are great for everyday wear, the swedes are kind of tricky because of the belted ankles but both a very warm and comfy. I also have the Swiss loden trousers, good stuff. What other loden trousers you got?

Also, is it possible to get Norwegian versions of these somewhere? I've seen Norwegian loden jackets in that sweet green colourway, I'd love to have some trousers from that fabric.

Varusteleka is right, an 80%/20% mix or anything around is the best in my opinion. Your main enemy will be moths, and that's all I could suggest in terms of treatment if there is such a thing. Wool is probably the best you're gonna get naturally without having to waterproof (can you spray wool, I actually don;t know) or do anything to. It shouldn't pick up too much odor
as well as being slightly anti-septic, but not much of it is worn close to the skin for that to matter. I have a wool T-shirt so testing that is ongoing. Wool is a bit weird, a good quality one will feel much lighter but keep you just as warm, my swiss greatcoat is super light compared to a soviet one but always surprises me with the warmth.

Hmm there's not much out there in milsurp. US and British stuff from the 50's, especially the shirts. Finnish and Swedish stuff obviously. Russian stuff is there but not always that good.

I forgot all about sweaters, that's where milsurp wool really shines. Commando sweaters, but they're a bit much for some people. Austrian alpine sweaters are suitable to be warn as an outerlayer in the cold. Swiss and norwegians have good jumper offerings too.

There's also a trend for recycling old wool blankets into things. I'm a fan, but I know some people are against it. The two bush hoodies are from old blankets, Varusteleka does the Jama blanket shirt but I don't think highly of the design. This I got off a german.

If you can get them, the Norwegians make a copy that's like the old style british ones, where the cuffs are meant to be rolled back. I prefer them but apart from that I'd say our own Army is top of the game for commando sweaters. Get an RAF or Navy one if you don't like that 'extra in Red Caps' look.

If I must make one recommendation if you see one cheap (fuck GBF for asking like £100 for a badged one), get a norwegian jacket. These things are great. Heavy enough to stop everything, but not too heavy. Treated with water repellent they're practically untouchable. The hoods are massive and they have an honest to god poachers pocket that runs the full length of the back of the coat. Plus the sizable ones at the front. They're my all time number one.

I didn't get a chance to test them both in a snow flurry, but the 100% wool green held noticeably less heat in my opinion. It might be because it's a coarser weave, but the 70/30 mix also stood up to the wind better. Can;t say which works well while damp yet.

You can only really go all in wearing it like that if it's a flat colour. Older style stuff helps, but it's still debatable. Just wear a piece with other things, I mean you can get a jacket or trousers with more pocket than any fashion brand and with (usually) more durable fabric and construction.
