Sauvage is probably the most commonly worn men's fragrance right now. Keep in mind, though, far fewer people than you think wear fragrance in the first place and far fewer than that can pick out a specific scent on another person even if they're familiar with it.

Sauvage is a good pick. Women love it. He's 20, he isn't "into" fragrances, pretty much all he's gonna care about is if it gets him attention from girls. Sauvage will do that.

I asked this in a previous thread but didn't get to see any responses. But I'm looking for some bedroom candles. My only requirements are that they don't smell fruity, don't smell like a bathroom, and don't smell like grandma making cookies. I like light, crisp, almost nature-y smells, and have been having trouble finding something that will do the trick. Ideally it'd be a somewhat masculine scent. Oil diffuser ideas are also welcome.

So far the brands Ethics Supply Co. and Norden have looked promising, but I'm weary of spending 45-55$ on a candle before I know how it smells.

That's a bit of an overstatement without clarifying. It doesn't smell awful, by any means. But it does smell cheap. Much like axe. After sampling it, I pick it up all the time off of random passerbys. I've come to associate it with unshaven, poor and poorly dressed guys. A portion of these are young immigrants. This association makes me dislike the scent, even though it's not an offensive scent in itself, like certain niche scents.

If you are wearing it in a warm country on a warm day during Summer in an intimate gathering, then no way. If it's Winter, cold and you are in a place like a bar with lots of competing scents then it's generally OK.

I own plenty of the top niche scents but this one, it's probably the whole 80's vibe I like. It's still a decent seller and most people might be aware of Brut/Old Spice etc. because of thir dad (or grandad!) but Drakkar, usually nobody will instantly recognize.

I've worn Back to Black for the last few winters and I'm finally tired of it. It's too cloying on me on warm or sunny days to wear every season. One of my best friends hates the honey note in it and says it reminds her too much of an old woman.

I'm working in DE right now so I only have some frags with me:
1. Tocca Florence, for daytime in warmer weather (rollerball)
2. Santal 33, only for parties (liquid balm)
3. CDG Concrete for when it gets colder (full size)

I also have some sample sizes of Le Labo's Lys 41, Bergamote 22, and Colette 25 and CDG's Floriental and CDG2 that I've just gotten while shopping.

What is it about Millesime Imperial that makes it feel "luxurious"? I think I quite like that specific aspect of it, although the watermelon doesn't quite suit me. And yeah, it's far too expensive.

Is there something that has that same feel to it, but also emulates seasalt as well? I'm talking about something that genuinely feels like it dries your nostrils.

General recs based off of this are welcome. I'm a mid 20s male, and yeah, looking for something for spring/summer.

There are a few very specific ingredients that you can't buy but most of them are available. I encourage everyone on this board to read about it. You will realise that all fragrances including niche and designer are made from at least 80% synthetics and that's a good thing. There are some naturals that smell more syntethic to the nose than a lab "syntethic" version. Also, all naturals last very short, if you get any fragrance that lasts over 8 hours, that's all syntethics baby. You realise that the whole "we use only natural ingredients in our fragrance" is bs to try to sell you an expensive fragrance. That's why a lot a lot of people thing Creeds, Roja and Clive Christians have bs advertisements and are overpriced. At least whith the guys at Tom Ford and Amouage they tell you they use syntethics and you are paying for the art, not some alleged whale shit found in a mystical place.

hours are very misleading I think, I mean come on you can pick up a bottle of curve for what 10 bucks? And how long does curve last? It can last all day and its a EDC. Theres tons of EDTs as well that can last longer than so called EDPs and what not.

So ya I think putting hours on this can be misleading because longevity really is scent by scent basis

I think longevity has a lot more to do with the ingredients used. Like, a scent that has mostly citrus, aquatics, and delicate florals just isn't going to last long because those notes, by their nature, aren't very stable and don't stick around long. Yes, a fragrance with a higher concentration will last longer in general, but a really heavy EDT will last longer than a very light EDP.

There is a lot going on, but once it settles down, it's a fantastic green mossy herbal concoction that has great staying power, and is an amazing value. It is hardly a current fragrance aimed at youth, so I wouldn't recommend it for clubbing unless you're going after girls with daddy issues. I prefer the vintage version, but the last time I smelled a reform a few years ago, it was pretty close, so not a deal breaker.

Real natural fixatives when blended with a decent amount of florals extend it way past 8 hours. If you manage to get a perfume or attar that uses hefty amounts of oakmoss (not taking IFRA into account), civet, castoreum, hyrax, ambergris (not ambrarome absolute, ATO by IFF, ambrox, tincture replacement etc), patchouli and resins. Not saying 100% natural is the best way or anything like that. I'd say about 80-90% natural with good quality fixatives and florals, enhanced by synthetics such as ionones or synthetics that boost citrus would be a good value for what you pay for these days.

As for the luxury houses, recently their quality have dropped. Before I was a defender of Roja to an extent, but after all the churning out and the reforms that happened, I really can't defend the brand anymore. I feel bad for those just getting into the train, especially the reviewers that have just now saved for some frags. It's just sad that the brand puts on a human mask, building friendships as long as the reviewers and high profile collectors are paying into their pockets. I feel bad for them, I really do. I'm not gonna tell anyone here how to spend their money, but you aren't getting what you pay for quite frankly, not anymore.

Anyone else own Pineapple Vintage Intense? I'm about 36 hours into my full bottle and I'm getting only two or three hours of longevity with very modest projection. I own the original PV and PV Noir, which both project strongly and last for most of a workday, so my first impression of this allegedly more potent version is sort of disappointing.

That is what some reviewers insist but the average person smelling it on you isn't going to be appalled that you are wearing it outside of a club. It is powerful so you don't wanna get carried away spraying it. It's worth trying and I think the dry down is pretty nice. The bottle is great also.
