Should I go back to uni bros? Bongistan here, I'm training as an illustrator but art school is for doinks, so I'm thinking classics and visual history (kind of like a better art history course). Should I get into UK student debt for a 3 year course I probably won't use in my career but I'd really enjoy? I'm 20, soon to be 21

I consider Norwich to be an /fa/ city in general. In a reserved way though. Not that people dress particularly fashionably or anything, but they're easy-going and much nicer than in most major cities. Comfy vibes, Im pretty happy here.

Same reason as the rest of 'em. Didn't get into any MD's. Rather than doing a post-bac/masters, and reapplying, decided to go for the DO and bite the bullet on the title. It does have its merits. Manipulative medicine can be interesting and it certainly helps drill down anatomy, although it feels like a tremendous panacea and an unnecessary time sink most of the time. Overall, I'm just happy to be in med school, so not complaining too much.

This is just speaking for me, but I'm here mainly to look at mood disorders like depression and anxiety and there's people here working with optogenetics and neural track imaging which is exactly where I want to head, so the faculty is great for me because they are doing what I want to do. There's also an epigenetic lab and a more receptor-based molecular bio based lab that I'm interested in exploring through my rotations. I'd recommend searching for faculty doing work in your interested fields and read some of their papers; that would give you the best idea of how well the faculty would fit you. They're all very much dedicated to the students because there's no undergrads here and our class size is very small.

The facilities are definitely above average in terms of what you have access to. Weill Cornell is partnered with Sloan Kettering and (sorta) Rockefeller U so you theoretically have access to all three of their resources (tho you're more likely to run into that if you're doing cancer stuff). But their proximity means if you ever need a tool that your lab doesnt have that MSK or RU has, you can just call em and walk across the street to use their stuff.
Lab funding is obviously individual to the PIs, but on a whole, there's a lot of grant funding and I haven't yet heard of anyone deciding not to join a lab because of low funding.
In addition as a student, you get access to the Schrodinger drug discovery software which is very cool (and expensive)

I really can't imagine cornell's faculty/facilities would not be able to support you in your plans, rather I think the only problem would be if you didn't fit well, i.e. there isn't research going on that you're interested in. So just see if there's some work you're interested in (go through the faculty page and look up their most recent works) and if so, its more than likely that you'll thrive here very well.

but I totally feel that about /fa/ and passion - it feels like on /fa/ fashion is just a way of achieving aesthetic appeal, which is not a problem, but it definitely is missing a large deal of respect/interest in the history and the theory.
