Hey /fa/ I'll move into a 28m2 room in October but I had to buy up the old furniture inside.

One of the furniture pieces is a huge ass Ikea "pax" closet that I don't really need since I'm a male and I don't own as much clothes.

Could I use it for something else or could I disassemble it without completely destroying it? I know IKEA doesn't have the best quality.

No it's a room in a shared flat, bathroom, kitchen etc. is seperated. So it's basically my bedroom, where I study etc.

So 28m2 are actually quite a lot. I haven't moved in yet so I can't take pictures. I have a few saved from the advertisment but they are taken by the previous owner and are pretty shitty.

On this pic you can see the IKEA pax and some shitty old couch.

u buy the furniture or rented the furniture, carefull or u could loose the lease.
Well if ur sharing it means ur poor, so dont buy fad and buy if needed.I mean this, people often have their ideas about how a place should look before living on them and it end ups blowing in their face when they actually try to live with the stuff.Get to live there, make the place urs, but do it slowly i dont like that ikea stuff either, but with a little diy work, theres a lot to use and transform in that room, is not like that room was used before as a crack house.

Now dont come but i live in ny and here shit is so expensive so thats why i share, is that the case ur just poor for ny standar even if ur considered rich in somalia.

Is ur first time living solo?u gave me the impression so what i told u, i told u for a reason.

What do u like, where does ur inspiration came from? Victorian, industrial, eclectic, bohemian?Answer that and everything that u will be changing to get to that ideal, should be done step by step, do not overbuy.

I'm renting the place, but I bought some of the furniture from the previous owner.
I live in an expensive town in Germany, that's why I'm moving into a shared flat, it's actually quite common here.

I'm not poor per se, I'm a student but I work on the side so I'll try to be as frugal as possible as I don't like spending a lot of my hard earned money. So basically I approach the situation as if I was a poorfag.

It's the third place I'm moving into, my ex girlfriend decorated our old flat so I'm pretty clueless about decoration and that's why I'm asking here.

As for inspiration, I really just started looking. I lurked the previous two interior threads and decided I want a fair amount of plants, a relatively big rug and in general a cozy and relaxed atmosphere.

Even though I have a rough idea about them, I don't know much about those styles you listed but I'm open for everything really.

Yeah i supposed u lived in an expensive town and u didnt had enough money to live on ur own, so u shared, dont be offended by the term poor, ur student with a job on the side so is not like u got the time to be making the big bucks.
So is not an if i was a poorfag, but as i am a poorfag.

Now with the important stuff, the previous room is full ikea, and the main difference with the picture u shared and it aside from the obvious no plants, is the lack of texture, thats probably what u dont like at all.
All the lack stuff completely in white, without any hint of being real wood, real metal, real iron in it, is just so anticomfy.
The fact that u like plants, a big rug, shows that ur someone who craves for texture.

Ill reutilize the ikea table as an stand for plants, but away from the center of the room.
Also most of that ikea white boring stuff could be improved if u wallpaper it, specially the wardrobe.
The wardrobe if u find a wallpaper with something like this :http://gobelenshop.ru/uploads/product/500/548/thumbs/70_karta51.jpg
And u plaster it on it, will look full of texture and become a pretty neat focal point, i do not recomend downsizing it, since smaller wardrobes tend to collec dust on top, and also in general will look less sturdy, wich for a 28 meter room will look worst.

The couch is ok, i see it working with anystyle u want, of couse i preffer a leather one, but that one u got is not bad, plus it can be turned into a bed for treeshomes and stuff, real usefull.

Once u start living there, u start buying plants and trying to find where to place them, even moving the desk to where u need it, u will realize that probably half the furniture in the picture will serve u a porpuse, so wait before buying new, and upcycle, paint and modify it to look as u want it.
From what i see on the 3/11 picture, the previous owner didnt even had room to place the printer properly so that corner could benefit with better storage, but u will realize this on ur own

>> No.12741740

>>12741662
My advice doesnt come because i liked the ikea white stuff, i see what u dslike about those stuff because i dislike it too, and also because i crave texture as much as u do.
Thats why i know, having some shitty stuff that allow u to experiment with it is a great thing, because if u just throw it away and u get a finished furniture from a fancy place, u would just place it where u think it will work, but u wouldnt try to make holes on it, to paint it, because it will ruin ur costly piece, with the ikea stuff driving a hole on it, painting it, or wallpapering it will be a no deal, and thats how u create an space that is yours.

The thing that in my place gates the biggest compliments, is a tv stand from the 60's that was full rusted when i got it.Also a painted tripod stand that was full of stains before i painted it and now i use it as a coat rack.

>Yeah framed pictures ar a good option, just dont use meme pictures, like those motivational ones, but what u like and better of if u short the pictures by theme and/or color and try to make them blend with the general spirit of the room/place. What do u like? Ar u a photographer?

not really, I do make pics with my dslr when I travel, (pic related) and since I have tons of them I'd figure it would be cool to frame some. They may not be the best pics out there but atleast they are made by me and gives it a personal touch. Sorting the pics by color and theme are a good idea, I will try that out, thanks

ok ill help.
First
how much ur looking to expend?, what ar u looking to change?
The floor u got is gorgeus, do not cover it with any rug is damn beautyfull.
Move that wardrove to the corner, is so small it looks out of place where it is.
The sofa that cover it have, is not flaterring, will benefit a lot if u get something etnic to cover it, like one of those mexican blankets.
http://www.icolori.eu/fotos-dk/mexicansk-taeppe-falsa.jpg
Where ar u, probably there is something artesanal where u ar, that will add a good touch to the room and also u showcase something unique from ur country.
If u dont like anything etnic u can get just a white cover for it,with that floor the white couch will look comfy as fuck.
Ar u looking to add shelves, storage, a table? ar u looking to have any specific furniture for u, like a desk or anything like it?

I dont like that table much, but it doenst look bad, just the color doesnt contrast the floow in the best way, but is not something i would change first if i were on a budget, ill change it after gotting what i need/want.
To 2 green armchairs, i dont like the color i dont think that color flattens the room much, but if theyre comfy u can get them upholstered for probably way less than 2 will cost u new, but that depends if u like their shape, their comfiness and of course again how much ur willing to espend.
I second the other anon in getting plants
I would place a little shelve on the door and put some plants there. of course using the space on top of the wardrobe is necesary.
And ivy, a photos ar good and hardy plants, and will be good for u, Ivy can help remove mold and organic matter from the air.

For curtains ill go for some white ones, but it depends u got external shutters or u will need to get good curtains in order to darken the room for sleep?
The lamp ill move it to the opposite corner, and buy/make a shade for it something like this :http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/20124655/

I like it, that picure is great and will look good in a big frame, just beware that picture have a lot of noise and once printed it will be really noticeable,u can just use a photosop filter even if it makes it look less real, to camuflage make dissapear the noise, and still have ur own photo in display.
For example if u like to add purple into ur decoration u can add a filter like this one, that will also serve to make the noise dissapear:
https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/73/184356985_39a73ed545_b.jpg

Now for the framess, u will have to choose if u want some modern sleek frames, the color that goes with the room, a black frame goes with almost everything and if u want a border.
https://i.pinimg.com/736x/49/4b/bb/494bbb83325c635a6bfd842d02c5a342--ikea-ikea-malm-ikea-bed.jpg
This in pic related ar black frames, with a white border and a common theme of people of pop culture in black and white, u can do this for ur pictures and it will look amazing, i like the photo u showed, do u got a flickr? i wanna see more, and also of course show us when u finish it, it will look so cool once is done.

hey man sorry for the late reply. thank you, I appreciate your advice a lot.
sadly, it's hard to plan decorating the room since I'm only moving in in October and the landlords MIGHT change some furniture (most probably the bed and the wardrobe).
I like ethnic patterns and designs so yeah, whatever the landlords decide to do with the sofa, I might get a cover like this.
I'll probably get the desk in pic related. I know it's not very good looking but gf and I both need space for our desktop pcs and as poorfag students we often need to choose utility over aesthetics. it also comes with the shelves so that's an added advantage of storage space.

268$ is not cheap, and that shelving have a problem the place where the board and the shelves meet is really poorly terminated with a weak connector, now i u really want to go low cost and do something better, ill advice u to get something like this.
http://www.ikea.com/ca/en/catalog/products/10337624/
U can ask them to cut it in half(or take them to where they cut it like home depot cutting something like this in half is usually very cheap like less than a few bucks cheap ) and use two halves to build urs and ur girl desk, keeping a little space beetwen the two to move cables, for the legs u can get four of this:
http://www.ikea.com/ca/en/catalog/products/90217972/
And now the storage but u can choose other if u like for 159$ kallax http://www.ikea.com/ca/en/catalog/products/30275861/#/10275857
+
http://www.ikea.com/ca/en/catalog/products/40261057/?query=Linnmon+connection+fittings
This will cost less than the one ur thinking about getting and will be better(better wood even if both at laminated), u can choose betwen better color combinations, and also u can hack it in many other ways even choosing a custom storage and avoiding kallax, thats ur choice, i only present what i thing is a better alternative.
Since i know, that utility over aesthetics is sometimes the way to go, just keep in mind depending where u ar, there ar better places to get what i showed u than ikea, but since i know u have an ikea close i picked everything there to make my point.
If u dont want to cut shit:http://www.ikea.com/ca/en/catalog/products/20353741/
