I try to do this too

separating my opinions from 4chan has done wonders for my social life, like you don't realize how much this place fucks you up until you try to have a discussion with a person with actual taste that isn't just copypasted from internet forums

it isn't pretentious if you never admit it to anyone and always feign ignorance, like "4chan? haha I've been once or twice to look at memes"

there's a difference between using it to find new music and judge it for yourself and using it to preemptively influence your opinion on things though

like 90% of the people shitposting about albums they don't like have either never listened to it, or only partially

There is no better way to limit and degrade the capacity to enrich your life than to deliberately ignore the lifelong dedicated "opinions" of qualified experts in their respective fields (assuming you meant critical and literary theorists because why limit yourself to /lit/ and literary groups), same applies to the doctor's prescriptions, the carpenter's advice and so on. But I guess literature's not for everyone

Also

>unbiased

this. plus /lit/ has good recommendations - you go and buy the book without reading their biases. afterwards make a thread to discuss because there's no way you picked up on everything. you walnut
