You're on a board where people spend $200+ on a shirt and you're whining because an individual is perplexed that one would consider a $2,000 *COUCH* expensive.

not that guy but im more perplexed why youd spend so much money on something so...basic? like if you want it to look basic and normal then spend 1500 bucks less in ikea. if you wanted to make your place look special or intersting at all then you could spend 2000 on something a bit more unique? Youre like a snob who spends money without wanting to look like a snob, but you want your snobby mates to know where you shop. in short senpai you dun goofed and you should feel bad about your shit shack of a house

Unless you live somewhere where their basic couches don't start at 2-2.5k, I don't think it matters about relative cost to personal income. There are nicer things out there at a similar or more reasonable cost that are still built well. I got my sofa for $700, and it's Canadian made, solid wood structure, blah blah.

It's bland in part to a complete lack of personality. A few friends have bought houses in the past years, and they all look like this. Almost exactly the same. The same basic sectional, ottoman in lieu of coffee table, nothing on their walls (because they all just bought a damn house and are trying to fill it), cheap engineered floors and some ugly wall colour, usually however the previous homeowner left it. And none of these people post their living room on /fa/, or care about their style. Which is fine. But you asked for rates.

You literally have a random sofa in what's supposed to be a dining room. It could at least be a functional room in some way. Not an empty room with a couch in it. The only thing on the wall looks like it was bought to match the rug, or vice versa. It looks tacky either way. The shams make no sense, pick a colour. Or two. Stick with it. Don't just take the first three you see in the clearance bin and call it a day.

I already stated I liked your media console, and that lamp. Can't see the other one. Nor can I see your kitchen. Chandelier looks out of place, but I assume it just came like that.

You're also bickering with a different anon right now.

>> No.12477473

>>12477465
Well, for one - basic and minimalism is pretty "in," style-wise these days. Resto Hardware, Room & Board, etc all have similar styles. I suppose I am a fan of basic and tasteful pieces.

Second - $2,000 is not a lot for a couch, if you know the market well... it just isn't. Ikea is literally garbage that falls apart. If you want something that is going to last 8-10 years easily (with a warranty that backs it up), that's just what it costs.

If you want unique shit, you're talking $8,000+ for a 3 seat lounge.

I'm just really confused why you think it's expensive, but I can see why, since you referenced Ikea.

>>12477471
Yeah, I don't mind the opinions, it's fine. I just found it intriguing that anon commented on the single most shitty piece of furniture in the photo. I don't even like the lamp, it's just thrown in there in case a little bit of extra light is needed.

The house is what it is - I find the color commentary a bit out of place, though.

The chandelier and sofa definitely need to go, though. We don't use the dining room - it's a "game room" with a TV and an open area for VR. You can't see the TV in the corner across from the sofa in the other room.

ALl great, but unfortunately a large part of the reason these are aesthetic is because of the foundation/location of the house/apartment. The average place /fa/ is gonna have would be a square apartment, or dorm, not these beautiful lofts and architecture. I think for the purposes of DIY we should limit inspo to amateur work or aesthetics based on the furniture, not the architecutre/material of a room. Things somebody can control in the place they already own
