I think they look pretty good when they're used as 'frame for a canvas'
pic related, some dude from /fa/'s tattoo's and i thought the bands emphasised/made the tattoos in between look dope.

Yo, I want to get my first tattoo but only problem is I'm overseas in fucking rural Brazil. My closest city is Belos Horozonte, but I am entirely clueless to identifying a good tattoo artist (only the styles I like). But yeah, other than obvious flaws what do you look out for that makes a shitty tattoo artist (line work, dot work, shading etc). I like b/w, dotwork, some woodcut (if its fairly simple), nothing photorealistic or overly convoluted, and sometimes I like b/w traditional but not particularly so.

I know it's shit from an artistic perspective, but it turned out pretty much exactly how I wanted it. Maybe a bit less uniformity on the branches, but that's not the biggest issue. I got it from my studies of philosophy. When I was younger I was a big fan of continental existentialism, especially Camus. His concept of absurdity struck a cord with the edgy teenager I was. Eventually I grew up and came to appreciate the simple morality of stoicism. Just trying to live a good and honest life, not endlessly sitting contemplating about right or wrong in a dusty old room. The simple pine tree reminds me of that. Simplicity, unwavering strength in your beliefs, solitude and a sense of certainty. They're called evergreens for a reason, because in the tumultuous cycle of nature they always remain.

I guess that's really pretentious, but it means a lot to me and my growth as a person.

It's kinda like the bikeshop and the actual studio aspect they have in the USA
You should check out ignorantstyletattoos, they post a bunch of good artists from here, since the guys that manage it are from here, and i don't know, hang out with /fa/ people and they'll give you recommendations on good artists, at least in Curitiba where i live the ~underground~scene is filled with people with great taste and with great artists, don't know about Belo Horizonte tho
