I love the color pallette of old traditional irezumi, with blks, grey's, green, and red, and yellow.

As an aspiring tattooist i never understood why /fa/ is so obsessed with ONLY black new age tumblr doodle-esq tattoos,
You hardly ever see traditional irezumi or American Traditional Tattoos in these threads even though they're the quintessential "tattoo" tattoo
When you think of a tattoo most ppl think of something like you'd see on Popeye or snake on Simpsons etc etc, not a geometric random design or a black doodle or abstract piece that looks out of place as a tattoo
Granted some of them on here are amazing on a technical scale, but as tattoos they always just scream out of place or seem like something a condescending Tumblr hipster would have..

Idk..I guess I like and appreciate traditions and history too much.

Because modern tattooing as we now know it stemmed from the designs of American Traditional and Traditional Irezumi from the 30's-70's and while yes there are some like real tribal tattoos like Samoan, Aztec etc, etc, that have been around since the beginning the foundations of modern tattooing came from American and japanese traditional tattoos, also japanese irezumi has been around for hundreds and hundreds of yrs which is why traditional japanese will never go out of style since they're timeless designs that were pulled from Ukiyo-e woodblock prints back in the 1700/1800's

I'm thinking of getting the square thingy motiff from pic related on the inside of my forearm, right below the elbow. One of the vertical lines would go all the way down to wrist, and the horizontal one would wrap around my forearm.
