All right /fa/, I think it's time for a story.

Let me start by saying that I am by no means a poorfag. I make somewhere 160k a year, before taxes, doing what I do for a living (lets just say my job involves computers and hospitals).

This said, I am very selective about the clothes that I buy. Which means that more often that not, I will find myself in a high end store (Read: Barneys, Saks, various Boutique stores, etc) only trying on clothes and not actually buying anything. When I find the right piece, I make it rain like a motherfucker, but that happens only once in a blue moon. Either way, its not hard to say that I am unfamiliar with employees of these stores treating me like garbage. And believe me, more often than not, how I am treated in a store greatly influences my willingness to actually spend money there.

On with the actual story now: as it happens, I found myself in downtown Chicago two weekends ago. I was there mostly for business, but I had quite a bit of free time, and a long list of boutiques and stores that I planned on visiting.
I went to Barneys, and got treated like shit.
I went to RSVP Gallery, and got ignored outright.
I went to Notre, and got treated like shit.
I went to Gallery Aesthete, and had what I would consider to be one of the worst experiences of my adult life. Even though they had quite a few pieces, mainly Boris, that I absolutely loved, I would never spend my money there.

You don't deserve anything in life, the employees at shops are solely there for getting money from you.

There was, however, one shining light in the midst of all of bad experiences.
And that was at a store called Urban Oxygen.

I was with a friend for this part of the weekend, and he was the one that brought up UO in the first place. I had never actually heard of the place. So we go to find the place, and it turns out that they had actually moved locations recently, and are scheduled to open their new location on the first of October. So my friend calls them just to find where their new location is, and the person there straight up says, "I've got the store half put together, but I'll let you in to look at what I have,". He tells us the new address, and even meets us outside to greet us. This motherfucker was the most courteous, inviting, and helpful person I've ever dealt with in a store. He bent over backwards to show us what he had, and even introduced me to some designers that I've never heard of before (Ouret, Thom/Krom, Johnlawrencesullivan). Neither of us ended up buying anything while we were there, but that didn't seem to bother him in the slightest. Partly because of this, I ended up going back and spending ~$800 on a Barbara|Gongini leather jacket.

I had the exact opposite experience with all of these stores, it usually seems the higher end the store the better the service.

Hey guys, I'm a multi-millionaire son of a Russian oligarch. I went to H&M the other day and promptly received satisfactory service. I highly recommend you shop there over other stores.
