thank you for your kind words. people is basically the only thing that inspires me to draw nowadays. i've been doing a lot of portraits in pencil of the people i meet at uni, since unfortunately no one will sit still for an ink drawing or painting.

i prefer to draw from life, since you get a lot more of the sitter's personality/dumb ideas i've internalized about the value of close photo studies. i feel like the drawings i do from photos can only compare unfavorably with the original photos, being educational-but-redundant at best and directionless-and-derivate at worst. still, i've really enjoyed drawing people from /fa/ in the past. they tend to put more value in appearance and appreciate the creation of images for the sake of visual pleasure more than ur arvrg joe. so if there's some sort of depiction of yourself that you'd like to see done, i'd be glad to consider it.

i'm very envious of people with effective cartoony styles, haha; i love stylized drawings, but i feel like my attempts to simplify just end up looking awkward/uncanny. drawing from life is super educational and rewarding, especially if you don't put pressure on yourself to make the end product presentable.

r crumb is very #insp, but as far as line placement goes, i'm disciple of moebius. crumb's crosshatching effectively creates a wide range of tones, but moebius's contour-following-hatching really plays up ink's main strength as a medium; the ability to describe form.

early junji ito really inspires me with his wobbly, boxy inks; his forms sort of remind me of lukas's work, actually.

oh! i love ito, i have uzumaki on paper and as you mentioned his early work is very charming. the wobbly lines remind me of an artist named minipete, her works look kind of childish but they're very "warm", if that makes sense.
i'd never heard of moebius' work before, it's stunning! i love how it's so tidy yet natural-looking.
