There isn't even an inspo thread going.
What's going on with you?

My WIP over the last couple of months.

>Plan on getting a bed frame/headboard, white fitted sheet set.
>Second throw blanket, a couple accent pillows to match. Thinking ash or sage color
>Nightstand or two. Kinda need the bed frame first.
>Walls bare as shit. Have things in mind.
>I hate the mini shelf. Have no idea what to do with that space.
>Upset that my /fa/ pots lack drainage and some of my plants are dying.

Fuck, man, why are pots so expensive? All of my big boxes cleared out anything interesting, and what's left lacks drainage. Being a scrub of shrubs, I didn't know that no drainage is basically a death sentence.

Haven't had them long, but the only thing can really do to fuck them up is to over water them. Ironically enough, that's the very thing that I did. Get a pot that drains. It's an absolute must.

Anyways, the general rule with the plants I have is let the soil dry almost completely before watering.

The bigger one of the case is a chinese evergreen, and beside it is a golden pothos. The desk is a white mable pothos. The one of the shelf is a butterly nephthytis

(white marble pothos)

The Chinese evergreen came with a tag that said water with one cup every two weeks, maybe more frequently if in harsher conditions.

You could do a quick search for resilient house plants, "man plants", and the like for decent suggestions. The alternative is just to show up on your local home improvement joint and hope someone could guide you.

Man, I really wish we had a garden shop anywhere near me. No clue why pots are so expensive. I'd like something like this with a drainage saucer.

There's a subtle "crispness" to the air, yeah. I'd like more plants but I need to figure out my potting situation first. Check out this link for some more suggestions on air purifying plants.

https://dailyhealthpost.com/nasa-plants-that-purify-the-air-in-your-house/

All the plants cost me $4~6/ea and pots $5~6/ea. The Evergreen (and the Sanke in the bathroom) came with a planter for $11/ea. Got them all at Home Depot, iirc.

Pothos are great plants to start out with. Get a pot that drains and be mindful of overwatering. Note the symptom of drowning- the browning of leaves and the stems. You can see those symptoms in my two pictures.

Supposedly you can propagate potohos easily, if slowly, with cuttings. I'm attempting that with a small clipping that came off of goldie on top of the shelf.

I've got this great idea for an apartment

You basically build (if it's possible) a penthouse kind of thing on top of one of those industrial brown nigger blocks or on the top of a commieblock. It'll be really long, but not that wide, and on one of the sides you only have windows. The walls and floor should be simple concrete, while the rooms will be delimited by just 2 walls covered or made from rosewood, so they won't really be "rooms", kinda like a toilet stall without a door, including the shower (there should be a little bump and tiles around), the shitter will be separate and closed because I mean, it's obvious

Also there will be a proper room, and I think of it with pillow-carpet kind of thing, both on the walls and on the floor, kinda like a room-sized bed, with a telly around it and that kind of shit

When you enter there'll be a huge living room with a small kitchen where you can fit many people for when you want to make a party for instance

i think the room looks nice as is.

you might be able to free up more usable floor space if you turn the bed 90 degrees and put it up against the back wall (if it will fit like that). you would have a larger contiguous floor area which would be great for activities. the room wouldn't look as pleasing, though, in my opinion. so i guess it just depends on what your priorities are.

Looking great, but if I may suggest something...
You got some crisp clean white shapes going on, but the bed sides/boxes ruin that.
You could get awood frame to do around it (from the floor up to 2 inches past where the actual mattres starts). Sort of like an l_l shape so you just slide it in place. In pure white like the shelves.
Your bed will then look super expensive for pretty cheap.

Sorta like this but in thick white MDF

Man, that's a pretty good idea. I've been pushing for a low headboard, but a whole frame like that would probably look sick. I've never seen a headboard that looks perfect, let alone a whole frame, and I don't consider myself handy enough to do exactly what I'd like on my own.

Maybe something like this, but obviously built to house a box spring, and with less contoured detail. Something simpler, and more rectangular.

Yeah, it's a work in progress, but in a way, it still represents me pretty well. I'm going for a slight scandinivian motif, and I really like [attached picture]. so I'm trying to mishmash those.

Saving for/not having a bed frame is really killing further progress with the room. A lot hinges on the color/size that I go with.

Not sure if I subscribe to that. There's something tranquil and soothing about them. Not to mention the actual, physical atmosphere is noticeably different. I really love having them in here.

I might pick a Neo later on if I can pick it up cheap enough, but man, PC gaming has really hampered my desire to buy heavily into another console.

Speaking of FF, this is something I considered framing for a wall.

That's pretty nice.

As other have said, consider changing out the night stands. Would you be able to lower the shelves a bit more? I could see removing the second shelf from the bottom and using that as a stand alternative? Just an idea.

A bed frame or platform might with a headboard not be a bad idea. I'm personally trying to ditch the skirt on mine.

Besides that, maybe add a tad more color? I think the white/bronze/taupe thing, but you might had a tad too much white?

That is bad ass, but I don't know if I'd ever put it on a wall. It looks like it could look either dope or really cheap in person.

I have this framed on the wall in my home office, so maybe take my opinion lightly.

They're as high as they are to give clearance for the lamps. I'm actually impressed they fit, since the top is flush with the ceiling. I thought about bringing them down to double as night stands, but the shelves are too short and too shallow for any real practical application. We've toyed with the idea of doing an arch of shelves, but I haven't ever seen it executed well enough.

I hate my bed skirt, but it's better than nothing at the moment. Too fucking shiny, and too long.

I'm trying to find marble top night stands, maybe if they were brass/copper that could make a bit of a difference for adding colour. But I'm honestly lost on how to do that without overhauling the whole set up. I like the wall in a light grey, I guess it could go a little darker, but that might not do much. Maybe get nicer curtains. They look a little like burlap irl, and I don't mean that complimentary.

Yeah, the Magitek piece could be a flop. That shop has pretty good reviews, though. I'll see if I can find pictures oh it from folk who own it.

Dark Souls is really the only other series I'd be willing to decorate my walls with, but I'm not a fan of advertising what I consume. If anything, I'd be looking for something a bit more alluding and "muted", like this for instance.

Yeah, I don't think arching shelves could be pulled off well unless it has the appearance of being built into the wall.

There's a couple who're selling these farm crates for $9/ea on CL. They posted a picture of their shelf setup and I've been considering possible uses for them. It might be a bit much, maybe you could find something similar for nightstands, maybe fashion some into wall-mounted shelves? I've no idea how heavy they are.

Yeah, the words are almost an automatic veto IMO. I've only ever ordered maybe two things online and that C&B piece was one of them. I got lucky on their quality control, it's pretty fantastic, but they're real expensive for what's essentially still vidya artwork.

I feel like if you knew someone who actually did charcoals or watercolours of these things, they would look amazing. Reproduction printing is tough, and it's hard to replicate true artwork, let alone find good stuff in the first place.

I wish I had a picture, but I used to have these scrolls with Macross fighters painted on them by some dude that lived in my neighbourhood. They were awesome, but if someone just reprinted them on standard matte paper, they would have lost so much of their charm.

Clean up where you can is probably the biggest thing.

Move the bed off the window, if viable, and get some curtains that gel with the rest of your stuff.

Furniture that compliments each other works. Your bed is the biggest piece in the room, as another anon suggested, you could get a white desk and/or stand. Do you use that desk for anything?

Aight, room inspo bois
I have 4500 dollars and want to spend get some furniture
I am thinking of going through this brand (http://www.lolltrade.com) but can't think of what to do for my living room and bedroom
At the moment, I have a folding table from Target and a filing cabinet as my TV stand
So there's, you know, room for improvement lol

Thinking of getting a credenza for the TV, either a rocker chair or a cave chair, 4 chairs, and a nice coffeetable
And the cubby bench for my hallway
Not a massive fan of bold contrasting colors so black, sand, and british green are probably gonna be the colors I buy for everything

>> No.11742469

Sorry to respond in such a disjointed way, but a couple more thoughts. It seems like from your bed you face the closet. Is that right? If so, you're facing the least cozy/ attractive part of the room. If you curtain off your closet, that will help. Something simple, like a large, full chunk of linen that puddles a little bit on the floor.
Second, that shelf doesn't make too much sense. It fits, yeah, but it doesn't look natural. What about fixing a single shelf high on the wall above the radiator (a wooden board stained a natural wood color and placed on brackets), and then put three hooks below it. You'll have the functionality of that shelf, but in a much more ergonomic way.
You have a nice space and simple furniture. Lots of potential to have a natural, bright, cozy space, and I don't think it will take too much tweaking at all to make it great.

That's such a blank slate, it's really hard to tell you exactly what to do. Right off the bat, I'd say get some simple, neutral bedding. A big puffy feather comforter with a nice simple duvet cover and a few pillows will make your bed really cozy and not institutional feeling. It'll also cover the head/footboards a bit, as well as that gap of wall, none of which are pleasing to the eye. Really pile up the bedding and make your bed messily.
Next, a cool, old oriental rug.
A few tall and slender plants in front of the window with light filtering through their foliage onto your peaceful workspace.
Great, large scale art on both large walls. Abstract, simple, large, bold. Not a bunch of posters or tapestries. That's typical AF. Make this space bold and contemporary with an earthy and classical grounding. Also, get a better chair.
Have a good school year <3

>personally I have nothing to hide so the nsa thing isn't really that big of a deal
anon, that's a bad argument

One facet of this argument that goes largely undiscussed (and is something your friend may care about) is that it is bad for an imperfect government to be able to predict all crime. Some of the greatest steps forward in human history were only made possible by people being able to hide information from their government. If the church had access to Galileo's research journals and notes we could be hundreds of years behind in our scientific growth. If the government had unlimited access to the networks of civil dissidents blacks may have never fought off Jim Crow. If King George had perfect information America would never have been a country. There is no government on earth that is perfect, and therefore there is no government on earth that can act responsibly with unlimited access to information. A government is unlikely to be able to distinguish between a negative and positive disruption to it's social order and laws, and it therefore follows that an unlimited spying program can only hinder the next great social step forward. Don't fear the surveillance state because you might have something illegal, fear the surveillance state because it is a tremendous institutional barrier to meaningful societal progress.

(3) Get it printed on wall canvas
(4) [Optional] Get sound baffling and put it behind the wall canvas so the canvas also acts as a sound dampening panel

And the kicker is, you're probably paying like $500 a month for that shithole too aren't you? Dorms are a scam.

Loft your bed if possible. Some colleges provide loft kits for beds if you request one; with a space that tiny it'd be a crime not to.

If you're allowed to hang things from the wall, hang a large mirror to open the space up a little bit. Maybe install a shelf above head height.

Get a small plant for your desk/windowsill. You'll be surprised the difference a little life will make.

it's a studio but I'm splitting with one, total is 1500/mon, 750 sqft. he's got the bedroom which is same length, smaller width. I'm in the room pictured, the other side has the kitchen and a hallway leading to the bathroom/exit.

pilsen would be round 1000-1200 for same sqft.

It's safe. Im like 5m walk from there. I'm out 3-4am drunk & alone coming back from shit around the south pretty often and have never been bothered, on the red, on 31st into BP, Roosevelt around state, etc. The closest to "trouble" I've seen 2yrs in chi was getting my girls cat called from a car by some beaners in Pilsen, and getting snoot from some hipsters in a shitty wicker house show. I dress fash so it could be that

Are you sure you're just not scared of the sight of every cracked out nigger? They're harmless. Muggers are the only thing to watch for, Ive never heard of any north of 23rd

Woah sounds nice, post some photos. Coming from LA, it's crazy the kind of places you can get here. I'm good but thanks, my school is in the south, it's a bitch to live anywhere north of the loop. And desu I hate chicago's scene up north.

Btw y'all chi fuckers, where the good thrift at?

The scene everywhere in chicago seems pretty shit desu. I just do my own thing by myself and chill out when friends come to visit.
