Sizing was a huge part of developing his wardrobe. As a character, everything about him was supposed to make you uneasy, so everything was sized to be just slightly off, most of it was barely too big IIRC.

Just read the interviews about it, Jake developed Lou as "always hungry coyote", so starving is a way to go. Being on the starving mode feels more nervous, more angry than usual, lots of stuff pisses you off. But starvation should not make you fell apathic and sleepy, use lots of caffeine and do cardio to stay pumped.
This is how it feels in Lou's skin, you can try it.
