Anyone else dig this style?

Working in tech I noticed people sometimes do this, but usually in an un-/fa/ way.

I personally like it mainly because I detest how traditional shoes are not comfortable. Also, I think it adds something interesting to the fit.

Post shoe running shoes / sneaker inspo.

I'm in Seattle. I usually wear "safer" sneakers instead of neon colored ones.

this is a teenagers idea of fashionable. thinking that they look stylish in a suit but then have the techno sporty look from the sneakers. look stupid.

I would tend to agree with you, except the style has actually grown on me. A big part because I want to still look put together / formal at work, but also want comfy shoes.

Definitely fine in Seattle too. Not exactly for everyone and clearly marks you as a techie - which in 2016 is a good thing. Kind of like Gucci Loafers = Banker, Running Shoes = Tech

Any particular shoe you want to incorporate?

I just copped the adidas NMD, but I might swap them for the y-3 QR run which I have been eyeing.

I usually wear ocbd under a sweater. I am tempted to wear one of my dress shirts in a fit with running sneakers.

y3 would be a nice low key stunt

traditional shoes are plenty comfortable, but they need to fit correctly first because there's little to no padding in them whatsoever - error tolerances are a lot lower in dress shoes

also I really hate the look of sneakers with a suit - canvas oxfords are fine with a sportcoat and slacks combo but not with a full suit

I disagree with you. The shape of the last in fundamentally different than a human foot, even if you get EEE width. Plus the fact that they have elevated heels. (sneakers also have these issues)

Sneakers are at least tolerable because they have more give but ideally you want to wear something like birkenstocks. That is really a topic for a whole different thread...

I've seen shoes with more human foot shaped lasts before (pic related, too lazy to find a picture of oxfords) but it doesn't actually matter as long as there's room for your toes, the arch is supported, and both the ball and heel of the foot are properly fitted. If you have shoes that fit correctly it doesn't feel like you're wearing shoes at all, no matter what the specific details of the shoe are.

That's really interesting. I haven't seen any traditional construction shoe with that shape. That must be extremely rare because most dress shoes look like pic related, with pointy toes instead of room for toe splay.

Interestingly if I do wear clothes that are more on the casual side, I tend to pair it with more formal shoes. I feel like it balances it out.

That's exactly why I tend towards the more bulbous round toes. Fuck squished toes and pointy shoes. You'd probably need to get a bespoke last because I can't imagine finding anything palatable in this shape off the rack.

Pic unrelated to discussion but related to topic so it balances out

Yeah I agree. Luckily I was able to find a more round toed formal shoe, but it still isn't as comfy as sneakers. I can't justify spending so much money on custom shoes when I don't really need them.

In the past I really cared about having certain shoes, but these days I really go for comfort first then style. Luckily I don't need to wear dress shoes.

1: going to the gym, okay but get rid of the black trim on the back of the shoes
2: fucking trainwreck of a suit to go with trainwreck shoes that don't coordinate with anything, burn him and everything he's wearing
3: this suit is too slick looking for those huge white rubber bumpers can he have the shoes from >>11085227
4: give this guy the shoes from the previous guy's suit please or the white tennis shoes and it could work
5: nothing this guy's wearing goes with anything else he's wearing so I guess it's a successful fit?

a backpack completely crushes a suit jacket's shoulder pads and ruins it - it's fine over a parka or nylon windbreaker because those are pretty indestructible but a suit jacket looks like shit if it's got backpack wrinkles up by your shoulders
