hi everyone. i'm trying to track down a scent one of the guys at my work wears. if anyone has any idea what it could be please let me know, i'll list the qualities i remember it having and if you have any questions about it or ideas as to what it could be please let me know.
please keep in mind that i live in a small city in Australia so unless it was an exotic gift (which i doubt as he's been wearing it for a couple years now) it's unlikely to be anything niche as the only frags we have regular access to are designer.
anyway, it's a really spicy, warm scent. from what i recall it's not too woody and i think it may have a vague citrusy smell to it. i know that's not very helpful, i'm not great at putting words to scents but i can recall them just fine. thanks guys :)

It's very good. It's well-balanced and more wearable for everyday stuff than EN.

If you hear about bad ratings, take it with a grain of salt. Putting "sport" in the name probably drops the rating by 10-20%, because most sport flankers do kind of suck.

Bel Respiro is wonderful and I can't find anything else similar. Green, green, green!
For more conventional spring, Costa Azzura is nice. Venetian Bergamot is lovely too, though I haven't tried it in the heat and might become cloyingly sweet.
Also, I generally dislike citrus but Quercus is really fresh and nice.
Also, try Philosykos for something else green. The fig is great but I wish it didn't have so much coconut in it.

Aventus has a reputation for being easy to overapply. Also for olfactory fatigue on the wearer. Try to get at least one of those sprays on your chest under clothing and also try to give it at least 30 mins to calm down a bit and you should be fine. 2-3 sprays max sounds like a good dosage.

What's your favourite out of the CK's? Couple people chatting up Shock all of a sudden.

>> No.10994100

>>10994037
I wear a lot of the CK line at work because they are so casual (I work a labor job). They don't offend, even when sprayed generously, and they are cheap enough to reapply whenever I want throughout the day. Being that they are relatively linear fragrances, I don't ruin any special drydown magic with fresh sprays. I keep 3ml sprays of each in my locker because why not? The screw on cap used by CK allows for easy transfer using a pipette so I don't have to mess with a funnel and waste juice via the atomizer.

I'm most fond of Be and Shock, hence the large bottles. Be is a warm and clean bath towel, fresh out of the dryer, after a morning shower. It is not very powerful - it projects for about 2 hours with 5 sprays, then becomes a skin scent for another 3 hours or so. Shock is a cherry Swisher cigar smoked halfway and extinguished in a can of Monster energy drink. It projects nicely for 3 hours with 5 sprays and it leaves a trail for a while after that. I can smell it in my (long) hair at the end of my 8 hour shift. Overspraying with Be is safe, as it's not overpowering at all. With Shock, I use a bit more discretion.

Summer 2013 has great sillage and longevity for a beachy citrus scent. It gets compliments at my labor job. It's not as fun as 2014, which smells like a lime margarita, but 2014 wears off quickly.

Shock Street Edition is a blunted version of the original. It is still a spicy sweet oriental, but cacao replaces tobacco and the energy drink sharpness of Shock is replaced by a smoother rum-citrus-spice accord. Street Edition makes a nice midday refresher for normal Shock, but by itself I feel like it's missing something.

One Red is indistinct to be honest. Kind of a sueded version of the original CK One, minus the grapefruit. It's not bad. I bought the 50ml on sale for barely over $10.

If you can order some Super E Iso / Escentric Molecule 01 clone from an eBay seller, I recommend grabbing 30 ml or so of that as well. The stuff layers nicely with both Be and Shock, adding a bit of cedar sparkle.

What's a good way to learn notes? There are plenty of more obvious notes I can detect like most fruit, vanilla, cinnamon, leather, cedar etc. But then there are ones that I have never smelled outside of a fragrance or candle like vetiver, ambergris, certain resins, and some woods. And they're always mixed in with other notes so I can only get a rough idea of what they might smell like.

Was just going to suggest CDG Black. If you find that too much, these are probably just as bad, but worth a try:

Encre Noir
Bois d'Encens
Songe d'un bois d'ete (GOAT tier)
You might like Santal Royal, more amber though
And just for fun, try l'incendiare (SL). It's pure smoke and tar, like if you upped the amp on CDG Black 500%. Price is batshit insane though.

Ask yourself this: Should you be wearing fragrances whilst waiting tables?

There's a lot of people who are absolutely obsessed with this hobby and even a lot of them realize that not every occasion needs it.

No matter how inoffensive it is, there's still somebody whose bonfire will be pissed on. But I suppose if you really want to, just go to any store that sells the stuff (Sephora's, Saks Fith, etc.) and try on some of the less offensive scents like Cool Water, Acqua Di Gio, etc.

Axe shampoo / body wash / solid deodorants are all high quality products. As for their body sprays, they range from generic aerosol deodorant to almost-designer cologne.

Peace is the highest-quality Axe scent by far. It smells like a mix of Fahrenheit and the Bleu de Chanel drydown. I wear this one no shame. Other quality Axe scents are Harmony (citrus-pepper), Dark Temptation (cocoa-whipped cream), and Gold Temptation (pear-basil-cocoa).

Axe Excite is a hazelnut-vanilla gourmand, and comes across as very synth-sweet. Anarchy is a fruity aquatic, something along the lines of a more generic CK Summer. I don't use either, but they seem decent for the $5 price point.

Phoenix, Apollo, Kilo, and Essence are all variations on woody / green classic men's cologne styles. Although all four are generally pleasant, I prefer Old Spice for this type of fragrance.

To keep it real and without immediately pulling the "They're shit, end of discussion"...they're just not good. BUT, realistically you can't expect it considering how absolutely cheap they are.

The longevity on them is atrocious, the projection dies down very quickly, and the only way you do smell it for long periods of time/very strongly is if the person wearing it sprayed a quarter of the can on themselves.

In my opinion, I would at the very least just buy a Bath and Body Works fragrance before I buy axe cologne. But even then, there's a TON of very, very cheap alternatives that can last a long time, are actually interesting, actually smell nice, etc. And I'm not just talking "It's $40 for a bottle, it's cheap!" but under $20 cheap. And there's a lot of options, and if you use it correctly and only use a couple sprays it'll last a very long time.

tl;dr: Not good in any aspect, but you can't dog on a product so cheap, they know what they're making. There's better alternatives.

- Bvlgari Black
- CH Men

I talked to a douglas employee and she said something like that certain brands only get a certain amount of licenses in the area (or even country? I dunno). So that means certain things may only be sold somewhere if another place gives up their license for it. Tom Ford for example. The Douglas I go to only recently started selling it.

The late release thing is very true. I asked about the new L'meme flanker and they said it'll be another 2-3 weeks until they get it even though it's already in their database.

Pretty sure it's the Ralph Lauren purple label that you're thinking of. I haven't tried that one and can't compare it to Bleecker Street directly. Fragrantica seems to think the two are 95% similar, but the Bond is an eau de parfum rather than EDT and is labeled as unisex fwiw. Fragrantica also think Millesime Imperial smells like Ed Hardy.

Bleecker is a green gourmand built around black currant and blueberry, with a leafy / grassy top that keeps things from becoming too sweet. I wear it to work and it gets comments every day lately. I enjoy it so much that I just blind-ordered the other Bond by the same nose (Wall Street).

So these arrived today. I'm glad to have gone with the Aventus tester when it was on sale and don't miss the spray cap >>10997425

Al Wisam Day is pretty great for a $35 fragrance from Dubai. I haven't tried Silver Mountain Water so I can't say how much of a clone AWD is, but based on the note pyramids the two seem to be different beasts. For AWD I smell bergamot, rose, and sandalwood primarily. The citrus is very bright and fresh, and the florals give a distinctly Arabic vibe. It's an easy wearing EDP that I can see using all spring long. Will share more impressions after I've given AWD a few days' full wear.

The packaging is fancy for the price point, but the bottle itself is rather cheap - the white part is moulded plastic with a budget feel. No complaints about the atomizer or the juice, though.

so, I know everyone on /fa/ is a brandwhore or whatever, but Perfumes seem pretty simple, they're just some oils in alcohol, and it seems as through all these ingredients are cheap, so do any of you make your own perfume? If anything, it seems alluring to have a custom made cologne.

I've started purchasing clone perfume oils from ebay. A knockoff Bond Chinatown roll-on saved me from buying a whole $150 bottle of the real thing. I found a good Neroli Portofino oil as well.

Some of the best fragrances to buy generic versions of are the Escentric Molecule 01, 02, and 03, as these are single note compositions with only one main ingredient. They also layer nicely for "custom" fragrance combinations.

yep. damn near every time I stop off at a Bond stand I end up being given a SOPFH sample.

I've never given Aventus a fair chance (disliked it once on a sample card). to me, SOPFH smells so similar to Axe Phoenix that I have a hard time taking it seriously. but it's one of the most potent - and masculine - Bond frags so I've been using my samples of it while traveling in hotter climates.

would recommend you pick some up on ebay.

Easy. Find a site that sells samples and buy only those. Only buy a full bottle of something for which you've used up the sample. Samples should be at least 2-3ml.

On the product page for a given fragrance, you can select which size bottle to put in your cart. Most include a sample as an option, they cost 4-15€ each (15 for stuff like Clive Christian or Puredistance).

They do the decants themselves. The atomizers are the next-best thing to full size bottle atomizers.

What do you guys think of singular, emulated scents, like the Demeter line up? I was thinking of getting a bottle of their Earl Grey Tea perfume, which is just the scent of the tea. Is that a faux-pas for a lack of complexity/subtlety or is it sufficiently /fa/?

My Sephora had most of the popular designer colognes when I visited this weekend. The local Nordstrom was a bit more limited but they had Tom Ford and other fancy shit.

Retail prices are ass though. Nordstrom had Hanae Mori EDP for $80 when it can be had in amazon for about $30. Also don't let the sales reps pressure you. Say you're shopping for a gift to deflect their recommendations / questions.

>> No.11034936

>>11034491
The smell and your motivation are /fa/ enough. The only complaint I've heard about Demeter products is that they have really weak performance, and are maybe a little boring.
But subtlety is underrated and boring scents only bore the guy wearing them, so if you're ok with that, go for it.
