I have one that I wear with a balaclava - mostly because I don't want to get it full of sweat, and partly because I have a baby face.

I like it, it's warm as fuck. And it even protects your face against cold winds if you lace it up.

I have a DDR marine ushanka from the 80's (I think, it was stuffed with paper from '86).
I wear it (without the emblem) during the snowiest and coldest few weeks of the year (Sweden). Very nice to have a thick and somewhat comfortable hat for the cold winter.
