I buy denim based off the look of the cloth.

When I try them on I only care about how they fit around my ass/waist (am a guy, I realize this can be misleading)

Then I get them tailored to fit exactly how I want them.

Problem solved until my seamstress dies.

i would also recommend looking for trousers with a high rise since they're so abundant amongst straight pants
