thinking more about south korean fashion, i really think it stems from their extremely high beauty standards.

everyone's getting the same plastic surgery to get the exact same nose, double eyelids, and chin. eventually, their clothing choices are so trendy and unoffensive because they want to blend in so badly. looking at japanese street style, it's so fucking unique to each individual while in south korea you'll always find dozens of people wearing EXACTLY whatever the newest kpop idol or korean drama star is wearing.

that's why you'll never find a rei or yohji in korea.

i completely agree. dressing insane in japan is the direct rejection of the salaryman culture. it's so fucking punk and raw, but for some reason korea hasn't done the same. could it be that they're just late to the party? or is it because of japan's defeat in the war, something that constantly gets referenced by japanese designers, whether they do it intentionally or not.
