Got shit on reddit for this, why do people rarely tuck theor flannel and even dress shirts?
If you're fit and your clothes are fit for you it can easily make you look better.
Pic related - me.

It's considered a hair more formal, and formality is frowned upon by teenagers who have never held a good job in their life. This is especially the case among people who only have low-cut chinos and jeans.

That said, tucking in a casual shirt can be a bit dad-ish, if only because it can add perceived weight to your midsection. Depends on the length of the shirt and the look you're going for, of course.

Reddit are a bunch of backwards trend-followers who have no clue as to why tucking totally trumps untucking in some citations.

Are you wearing low rise pants? Don't tuck.
Do you want to dress down? Don't Tuck

Do you want to dress more conservatively? Tuck
Is the shirt a proper length as to not billow when tucked? Tuck
Are you wearing oxfords or sneakers? Tuck vs Untuck.

If you have mid to high rise (10+ inches), tuck. I prefer higher rise, so I tuck. Low rise and tucking looks bad because it gives a top heavy appearance, while higher rise, when done correctly, can be more flattering and extends the legs.

My only suggestion on your fit is that you unbutton the top two buttons and expose a white undershirt.

yeah i only later realised i was fully buttoned, it also restrains the neck and can make it hardee to straighten it and the back.

If you're going to work than this is probably how you want to dress (depending on the job obviously)

But for someone going to College, (or high school for reddit), that's too formal.

Agreed with this, for the most part.

One thing to consider: tucking gives different options in terms of layering. By way of example, certain jackets look better without shirt fabric peeking underneath, whereas some do. Very much an aesthetic thing sometimes.

didn't you say you're 16 and in high school? this shit's way too formal for high school unless you have an event or something. also why is your shirt tucked (formal) and your sleeves rolled (casual). completely incongruent outfit.

>> No.10432598

>>10432577
it's just a button down and khakis.. not really formal. plus as long as you know what you're doing, why not. especially if you dress it down with sneakers or something.

there's no unwritten rule against rolling your sleeves and tucking your shirt
where do people get this shit. gq? complex?

Way too formal would be a suit and tie. I think this still counts as casual.

Some parts are agreeable, but the white undershirt part is just weird. with flannels and light solid colours shirts you would just look like a wifebeater bogan.

It always depends on the style you're going for.
In general I'd say this is a good should I tuck it in list for newfags:

DO:
Dress shirts
White T-Shirts (not required, look good untucked aswell)

DON'T:
Casual or "fun" button ups (anything with a loud pattern)
T-Shirts that are not white

Of course you can break all of those rules if you know what you are doing, it's just a general guideline.

>> No.10433437

If your button down does an inverted v on the sides and is longer in the front and back, tuck it in. If it's the same length all the way around leave it untucked.

I wore a shirt today, that is specifically a dress shirt, even has the long tail. I tucked it in, and being in high school, 3 people were like 'You look like a dork' or 'That's looks awful' But yet, if you asked anyone that was not in my age group, they would say I looked nice. Weird how kids work.
