Ll bean katahdin. Lugged sole if you really want something hearty, if not the regulars work great also.

If you're doing real work then your employer will send you to an approved retailer and will pay for your boots. I have pic related and they're pretty good, not unreasonably heavy for a pair of 6" steel toes and pretty comfy and durable. They're also static dissipating so you won't cause a dust explosion, that's a plus.

If you're a dandy walking around with your boots unlaced and a carefully trimmed and oiled beard and a spotless brand new chambray shirt then Iron Rangers are a classic and I think they look very nice even if they're played out.

Correct answer.

I love my L.L. Bean Katahdins something fierce. I've beaten the hell out of them hiking, barhopping, getting them attacked by dogs, etc - they hold up like fucking champs and look virtually new. Some Obenauf's LP has helped immensely. Only real complaint most people have here - which I think is valid - is that the toebox is a bit large/round, which could look weird if you wear super skinny pants or someshit. They're also not really as attractive as other boots in the segment, but I'm willing to sacrifice that a bit for the reliability, like they're the fuckin Subarus of shoes or something.

There's some rumor that the quality has dropped since I purchased mine (in ~2010), so be warned, your mileage may vary.

iron rangers have a distinctively bulbous profile, they're not an especially versatile boot and they look pretty terrible with a lot of fits.

>> No.10362961

>>10362925
Truth. They're definitely a solid and durable boot, but they only seem to work well with heritage/workwear fits, read: straight or maybe slim fit indigo denim and a sweater/flannel/chore coat.

I had an identical pair of DM's and they were shit, lasted a year before the stitching blew out on the side and the soles cracked in half on both boots. DM's are a joke since they started making them in China, will never buy a pair again.

I've got a pair of chippewa apaches been wearing to work washing dishes for a couple months. Bretty good boot in my opinion especially if you need that fifty bucks off the katahdins.

Had em for a year or two beforehand but they always looked out of place until they started getting fucked up. Only real thing of note I have on em.

Oh, and yes, I chucked the fucking american flag bling.

I got some made in England steelies over two years ago and have used them 5x a week since. The bottom is worn almost smooth and the leather and stitching has held up perfect.

Anyone have any experience with the waterproof Katahdin's? I'm looking for another winter boot, but it's gotta be pretty fucking durable since I live in Maine.
