is barbour bedale jacket effay?

>> No.10267389

>>10267238
Yes. As with most Barbours you get grear quality, good design and a practical jacket. Make sure to look for other models too, there's a shitload.
Bedale has the advantage of being shorter, so if you're a manlet...
Beaufort is great if you're tall and going for a baggier look.
The motorcycle jackets are also nice if you don't enjoy looking like British royalty.

Buy it used. Bought one on ebay for..60 bucks? Not too abused, too.

Also, take a look at the quilted "commander" clone. Current collection. Really cool.

Not in the /fit/ and /fa/ sense. Bedale is better if you're under 5'9 or something. Beaufort is better if you're 6'1+, unless you want an explicitely short jacket.
Just try them both on, you'll see. Barbour sizing is too weird to order online anyway, unless you've had the jacket before.

very good in wind and rain, though

how versatile is this jacket? can't really see it going with sneakers and denim

probably could. i see it as being on par in formality with an oxford shirt. sneakers, sure. sweatpants? probably not.

not with flashy sneakers but it's not too bad with low key ones. It definitely goes fine with denim, especially indigo.

>> No.10272414

Then pick according to what you want. A Bedale will give you more of a jacket while a Beaufort is more like a coat. I personally prefer the Bedale, because I'm short and also it has nifty windstoppers on the sleeves. The Beaufort is the more practical jacket, as it's longer, has more room for thick layers underneath and a very large back pocket originally intended for dead game, hares for example (which is excellent for carrying beer).

Basically if you're using it as an outdoorsman, pick the Beaufort. If you're a law student wearing it on windy days on campus pick the Bedale. If you want something really nice but less practical (no zipper, only buttons), take the commander.

It'll last you for years. I've owned two Barbours so far and I've been wearing one constantly since I was 5. That's 17 years and I only threw out the first because I (obviously) grew out of it. Second one is seven years old now. Still looks great.

I get that, but I just can't justify to drop 300 bucks into a jacket right now, no matter how many years I will get out of it, or how great it looks.

Might aswell do as the other anon said and look for a second hand one, since they can hold well some wear and tear.
