Ever since palewave happened and monochrome got picked up by reddit, /fa/ has been on shaky ground.

Then the term virgincore appeared along with memeochrome, mallochrome, and pictures of pac sun, gap, and target pushing monochrome, which were the nail in the coffin akin to "dadcore" killing anything that isn't black years ago.

Since then, there's been a million microtrends (comfycore, palewave, dadgoth, peasantcore, brownochrome, maximalism, sandninja, etc) that have been going around, along with an abundance of "is ___ the new hotness/effay/the next meme" threads, and a shit ton of newfags with "just dress for yourself and don't follow trends" like this is mfa. Not to mention the resurgence of prep and workwear.

/fa/ needs cohesion again. It needs the next gothninja to band everyone together in the nxtlvl, so /fa/ can sit atop the throne, spitting on fuccbois of other forums.

I don't know what that aesthetic is, but I know it needs to happen, and fa needs to figure it's shit out.

/fa/ might be too large now to have that same cohesion that we once had. It's going to have to take an asthetic so nxt lvl to ever bring us together again. Also that nxt lvl asthetic is going to need to appear on /fa/. I think palewave is just going to stay as a small core. The next big thing I think is going to be minimalist tech clothing. Stuff like arcteryx. Just my $0.02 tho

The truth is that this board (and every other one here) will never be the same as it once was. People like to say that the board hasn't changed, you (the one observing the changes) have changed, but that is simply not true. 4chan has been growing in size pretty much nonstop for years now. /fa/ probably has 5-15x as many users as it did just a few years ago when it was still pretty new. These new people are not just due to a new generation maturing. These people are coming from reddit, they're coming from facebook, they're coming from normie shitholes and they've brought their reddit trend-hopping sensibilities with them. They don't produce any content, meme-wise or fashion-wise. They just copy whatever they see and try to recreate it themselves, making it shittier in 99% of cases. The interesting people are drowned out by these conformist normie masses. There is no hope for this board.
