I put paper masking tape on the ends of the soles of my geos to prevent heel drag, is that autistic? should I just get some heel protectors or what? I contemplated about getting them but I don't think they protect the outer sole since the sharktooth bottom is kind of separated from it, like I think it prevents heel drag effectively only on flat soles.

>>10149437

Are you talking mainline Ramones sole? The quality is good. It's not nearly as good as the moody though which is GOAT. The blistered leather and the fact that they were knee high on the moody ones make it that way. The Sphinx are a lot shorter and the leather is more like the stretch leather on the shell toe rickdidas from last season, which is good in its own way (it's smoother). I personally still find them cool but I don't like the way they fit. They just aren't long enough in my opinion. Maybe they work better on someone who isn't 6'1 and a 28 waist, because they don't meet the hem of the pod shorts for me.

Those are drkshdw. They are "neoprene" or some similar composition. They are pretty comfy. People seem to be really into them as they sell out at first reduction. I'm too skinny to pull off Geos in my opinion. I had a pair for years that I just never wore, couldn't figure it out, but I also didn't have enough rick bottoms to go along with it. Now I feel like I could find some outfits for it but at the time I didn't have much so I always think it's a funny "first rick piece" because ra honestly so hard to pull off.

I'll post pics of my lil Ricky collection one of these days but honestly I haven't been wearing it as much as my other pieces.

I'm in the Philippines and the heat is sweltering so my choices are pretty limited. Usually I just wear a black shirt with a distressed or curved tank under + black jeans. Getting pretty boring, feels like wearing a uniform, so my next agenda is to DIY a cracked painted tee a la Margiela and make an Undercover-eqsue denim a la Arts and Crafts to spice it up. I wish I had Rick bottoms tho

yeah I think you need to be a bit more muscular and have thicker calves to pull geos nicely but skinny works sometimes as well (pic related). I'm a fat manlet tho, but I'm working on it.

IMO I think buying geos is a good 'first rick piece' provided that you are interested in the aesthetic and have an idea of cohesive fits that would work with it. I feel like buying geos kind of forces you to seek out pieces that complete the aesthetic needed to pull off geos.

I don't get people who don't do what they want.

Fashion is like anything, you should behave in accordance to your own tastes. I think Rick's clothing is beautiful, and that's why I buy and wear it.

The only intention Rick has is for you to like his things and wear them. If you don't like it, fine.

If you don't understand it, maybe that's on you. I like how you are so quick to shrink an idea like art appreciation into "2deep4u". Why like anything? Are you supposed to just have a passing interest in things? Are we going to ignore that digging deep into any area of fine art is very rewarding, or that it alters your perception? Rick is the kind of designer that takes the history of clothing and fashion into consideration with his designs, as well as a sort of prediction of where it can, or should, go. If you are used to just fast fashion jeans and t-shirts everywhere, I can see how it would be jarring, but to me it looks very natural, it has a timeless quality and a very modern feeling to it.

I'm not going to listen to the radio all the time just so I can know all the music everyone talks about, I'm going to listen to shit I love to listen to even if I can't talk to most people about it. I'm not going to wear shit you think is appropriate because who are you, and why do you think I need to impress you? I don't really want anything to do with someone who has an issue with the way I look.If I'm crossing the street and people are staring, then whatever, I'm probably listening to music or talking to someone.

This never happens though. I've never had any social problems. If anything, it's brought me into contact with people I can relate to.

So there you go. Do what you want, because you're going to die

reposting good pasta from the last thread as well as this sick collection from an anon

I don't know what it is about /fa/ exactly, but I get the impression that there aren't many of you that have friends IRL who are into the same things you are. I feel as if /fa/ (or 4chan in general) is the place you go to to be around more people with the interests that you have since there are none around you. I personally do not have this experience. I got into fashion and designer clothing from being surrounded by friends who were into it, and a girlfriend who was already into and very supportive of me dressing well (she bought me my first APC shirt and then it started to click for me from that that I should probably graduate from buying H&M and AA). There was a boutique near my house, Blackbird, that had a ton of really great "dark" menswear designers like Julius, Odyn Vovk, Rick Owens, 3L, Aleksandr Manamis, et cetera. I used to hang out there and marvel at the really cool pieces from a distance but knew that I would never be able to pull them off.
One day, one of the salespeople (know one of my very close friends) put on a hoodie by Odyn Vovk that I had seen on their website and on the rack and always thought looked hella too goth, but when he put it on my perception changed suddenly. I feel like something "clicked" and that I now understood what the piece was the way it is. All the pictures made it look so goth but IRL it was really cool and wearable. Looked totally different than on the rack. I bought that hoodie after trying it on and falling in love... but I had hardly anything to wear with it.
That was about 3-4 years ago, and I've been building my wardrobe towards that aesthetic ever since, and making friends in the industry and the local community over this passion. This is all to say that I surround myself with people who care about the things I care about, whether it's clothing or just design in general.

I admire the luxury and comfort of Rick's fabrics and cuts, but I don't own anything from him yet.
Do you guys feel it's hard to take care of his stuff? I know the leathers and denim are pretty tankish, but are the thinner softer garments and knits a pain in the ass to maintain with regular wear?

I like it. It's fully satin lined, which is nice and lux. the length is good, the construction is good, fabrics are good. Price is a touch of the high side but they are all handmade in France which is a feat for that price. Only thing I'm not a fan of is the collar is a bit wide and stuff. It works best with a hoodie underneath. Also they fit TTS.

>>10158421
What kind of pants are you looking for? Trousers? Something relaxed like a drawstring trouser? Drop crotch at all? How do you feel about cuffed ankles? Or do you mean long jeans that will stack?
My go to is the prisoner drawstring, but also the drop crotch drawstring trousers are great tucked into the Ramones. Knomadik makes some awesome long trousers as well for a decent price. There are a ton of brands that do it really. Staying with rick, the drawstring trousers and prisoners he does every season are GOAT combo with the Ramones. Just make sure to size down.

Men commonly do not know their true shoe size (particularly Americans) because vanity sizing is definitely a thing. It wasn't until I started buying European (mostly Italian) shoes that I found out that I'm a true 10.5. Before that I was wearing 11.5 in Nike and Converse and Adidas...

So what size shoe are you in Nikes? Do you own any dress shoes? Are they French or Italian (French fits half size small, Italian a half size big).

I'm a 10.5 U.S. but I wear a 43 in Ramones highs, 43.5 in Ramones lows, 43 in Geos, 43 in CPs, 44 in anything from brands that use FR shoe sizing (Acne, APC, and sometimes Margiela GATS fits this way oddly) but Nike and Adidas I'm more of an 11.

Rick usually pairs well with Rick.
Some other good labels with Rick synergy are The Viridi-Anne, Lumen et Umbra, Lost & Found, Julius, Inaisce, Ann Demeulemeester, and Sruli Recht.

As an aside, all of Sruli's remaining dead stock is being sold on Grailed right now so get it while it's still around.

Rick Owens designs cover a huge range though so pairing is super dependent on the piece. Rick does everything from streetwear/sportswear influenced stuff to formalwear to comfycore to drapey goofninja in material from heavy horse leather to fine mohair. This can be a good thing because you make some unusual pairings work well despite the apparent differences in label outlook.

Still need to know the top you're trying to pair with. A mohair knit goes with different stuff than a double layer tee.

I don't actually own any Rick but I definitely have a good idea of what could work. Rick is fairly unique in naming a lot of his pieces. Most of the stuff I would pair with Rick is from labels that don't really assign names to specific pieces. They just call them 'long wool trouser' or 'drop crotch pant' or some shit.

Memphis and aircut jeans work well with Rick basics like tees and such. They're the most jeans-like pants he has besides the traditional denim styles. Prisoners are also classic casual drawstrings, but they're drop crotch.

I personally have a thing for wool pants, which The Viridi-Anne does quite well. I have some nice wool trousers from them (pic related) that fit a bit looser at the thigh and have a series of hook and eye closures running down the calves so you can adjust the leg opening, giving a wider look or a more dramatic taper. I think they'd work well with Rick knits.

Just browse around some place like Cruvoir and see what strikes your fancy.

not the guy youre talking to but imo u should cop footwear first, thats the most important piece imo, the others dont matter so much. an example is buying geobaskets and just buying some cheap goof ninja stuff from h&m or zara in the meantime until you start buying other rick pieces. next would be pants or shorts, pod shorts are a safe bet and staple of any rick wardrobe imo. after that you can buy a rick tee, any is fine but you should probably get a regular length one first, then a long tee as thats prob safer and not too drastic of a look for you.

I think the vegan Ramones are a nice start. They are versatile enough you don't need to worry about having a huge rick wardrobe to support them. They might still be difficult to pair with depending on what you own, bottoms wise. But they are fun enough that you can work with them.

>>10162101
XS=EU44=US34=28" waist technically.
I'm an XS in the Prisoner pants as well and a 28-29 waist. I can tell you that that chart is just wrong. His mainline bottoms in EU46 fit more like a 30/31 waist. It's a shame he doesn't make a 44 bottom mainline because logically that would fit a 28-29. I want so bad to wear an Astaire trouser but they still fit like my dads pants.

this is true suffering. i'd instantly cop some ramones if they actually made them in a US 14 or 15, that is one beautiful shoe. but as far as i know, all of tricky ricky's footwear doesn't go past 13. rick and other designers are ignoring a whole potentially lucrative market by not including us bigfeet.

Not that dude but still curious why people seem to value the Raccagnis more. YKK makes everything from shitty mass-market zips to Excellas. Most zipper manufacturers have different tiers of products. The Excellas I have are fantastic and from what I've heard, the Raccagnis are prone to sticking and breaking a lot more than the YKKs.

Is it just the perceived value in the 'luxury' zipper? I know people always complain about how designers like Rick have cheapened the materials over time, but I've never known if it's really true? Introducing a different less luxurious product doesn't take away from the hyper luxe stuff a label puts out. They're just trying for a larger market.

>> No.10164871

>>10164835

The main YKK zippers are cheap and tarnish quickly. The teeth are smaller and less chunky. They just don't fit the Rick aesthetic as fluidly.

Excellas are a nice product but it's a shame RO doesn't use excella. So, moot point.

>> No.10164964

>>10164871
Ahh. I didn't realize he wasn't springing for the Excellas. I admire Rick's work but I don't own any pieces. I just see this point come up often in talks about Rick Owens and the whole debate ends up coming off as a bit aggressive on the part of people who need to bring up the fact that they owned early season stuff and it was much better than the shit he puts out now and all that.

Do you own a lot of Rick? Do you have experience with the two different zippers or are you quoting someone else? I do like the chunky aesthetic that the Raccs lend to the pieces, but if I didn't know he was using Raccagnis before I don't think I'd really pick out the current zips as out of place.

I do own a lot of rick. I've had several of his leathers with Raccagni zippers and several with YKK. The fishtail I'm wearing now is Raccagni.
It's a clear and noticeable difference. the devil is in the details. If he used Excella I wouldn't be as bummed but it's kinda crazy that the prices on his pieces have been steadily going up meanwhile a lot of his clothing is now manufactured in Moldova and he's moved to clearly cheaper Zippers.

>> No.10165243

>>10165181
That's a shame although I suppose it's a cost of growing the business. Olmar and Mirta can't handle all of his production and with the number of pieces he puts out that have zippers, prices would be astronomical with all Raccagnis. Still unfortunate to see this change as it feels like cutting corners while he probably sees it as making the clothing more affordable for all.

I've heard that some drkshdw stuff still uses Raccagni despite mainline switching to YKK. Anyone confirm this?
