There's two universities in York. The one I'm going to is a 15 minute walk away from city centre.

I have visited the other campus though and it is pretty out of the way. I had to get a bus there and then it was another 15 or so minute walk.

Im studying there, currently 3rd year and heres the rundown. LOT of asians, its like fucking shanghai at times but some are effay as fuck. theres over 300 bars in the city and they range from one that is literally underground and lit with fairy lights and plays open mike folk nights to your local weatherspoons with 49 year old guys drinking fosters with their full english. Theres a lot of effay guys and girls due to the fuck load of stores and also the architecture is fucking sweet. the night life is tops with 9 or 10 clubs catering to a lot of tastes but there is a place called the willow which is the seediest fuck hole ever (a condemmed chinese resteraunt the manager turned into a nightclub, complete with tables and menus intact) but people go there anyway because its open till half five and they dont check ID and all drinks are a quid but they do employ fulltime pickpockets.

tldr, York is sweet but York St John is for faggots who cant get into a decent uni

Try and get accommodation in Fallowfield if you can, although over the course of the year (idk if it was like this beforehand), every man and their nan has jumped on the "wavey garms" hype, and unironically trying to be edgy, and calling themselves edgy.

Also if you have a problem with people doing drugs don't even bother coming here, it's almost quite disgusting how many people get on it.

Aside from that though it's a good uni with a sick nightlife and I'd glad I decided to come here instead of Edinburgh or St Andrews tbh
