Niveau bar, le Palais de la bière pas loin de la fac est souvent peuplé, les soirées étudiantes organisées par les médecines et les droits sont aussi assez cools pour trouver des chaudasses ( SURTOUT en médecine, les nanas sont tellements frustrés par leur boulot qu'elles sont chaudes comme la braise dés que tu leur caresse l'épaule ).

Le W.C. ( Wine and Coffee ) en ville est génial aussi, hyper convivial, public un peu plus vieux mais ils offrent cacahuète et charcuterie sans arrêt, j'y suis sans arrêt.
Sinon, avec Tinder tu peux aussi rencontrer des QT sans soucis, la plupart sont à la fac et un simple "T'es a la fac de Poitiers" suffit à lancer la discussion !

Theres very little to do week to week in the downtown area if you're under 21.
Parties are for the most part meh. Houses near campus are all really small and so a party with 15+ people just becomes super crowded but still fun.
Snow was fun for a few days and then just such a pain in the ass when trying to get to classes.

What do you expect ? The system was built like this. Napoleon created the Baccalauréat at the key to be able to go to universities. A lot of people drop out but that happens also in foreign universities.

I think this is a good thing. Higher education is free and everyone can pretty much get into an university, even if they are doomed to fail. I did horribly in HS because I was a very stupid teenager and my parents didn't push me to have super-dope grades (I think the problem with free-university might be here, we don't do shit in Highschool, but again HS in France is way harder than in america or the uk) I got my Baccalauréat without honours, but I was able to join a university despite that. And there I learned to work. To have my future doomed because I couldn't see the consequences of my action when I was 17 is something that terrifies me, I think the anglo-saxon system is very cruel.

I think we're still very much attached to that free-system as we like socialism I guess. Universities are not marketed and all deliver good education. I remember meeting people from the Uni of Glasgow, of Warwick, all top universities in the Uk, and fuck they were the dumbest people ever, no clue what they were talking about, absolutely shit at every subject they were majoring in.

I mean, the funding that public universities in France get from taxes is abysmally low. The grands ecoles get a significant amount of this money, and the rest goes to the hundreds of universities (which is basically pennies).

This is why a lot of the buildings are dilapidated, and are covered in graffiti. The uni in France I worked at one summer didn't even have any way to dry your hands in the toilets! It reminded me of some high school in a ghetto. Compare that with the architecture of some UK/US unis, where some department buildings are literally castles.

The people I was with for Visitas mentioned that as a common issue. I did well enough at Phillips Exeter but compared to the 23 kids going to Harvard in my class I did not do as well as two thirds of them. The biggest pressure I have from my family as of now at least isn't academics so much as getting into a competitive FC. Two have been in the Porc and the rest were in Fly. I think the whole thing is kind of silly in all honesty.

There is a lot of bullshit that comes with being 'old money'. There are a lot of expectations that I have to fulfill and a lot of aspects of my life haven't done those. My parents and grandparents spend a lot of time trying to introduce me to women from other wealthy families to try and make familial connections. Despite them knowing that I am quite gay. Its a lot of really petty problems that I don't want to have to worry about. Went there can confirm, basics as far as the eye can see. Graduated in '13, saw a huge improvement in everything about that school in my 5 years there.

Thankfully it's only like 3% greek life which automatically makes it better than 99% of US unis.

Wow, it's incredible to see UofT as an international place of learning. I spent my first year at Ryerson and for my undergrad program (compsci) RyHigh was not that bad. I'm not sure what the financial aid situation is for anyone, alls I know is pretty much anywhere you go in Canada, if you're an international student you're fucked here. It's like 3x the price at least anywhere even fucking seneca and the like. I'm not sure how OSAP works since my family doesn't require any kind of financial aid but there are many many grants and other financial programs you can make use of and that are easy to qualify for when it comes to a money-needing student.
