I feel more confident after all of this. Looking at high fashion made me see just how beautiful people are, as previously I would just gauge a face for beauty. Hate to sound all tumblr, I really think the most beautiful external quality is when a person is just capable of dressing him/herself in a way that is both honest to himself-his class.

Fashion =/= Style

Fashion is the art form of imagining and creating wearable pieces of art.

Style is just wearing things that fit you, what you like and your lifestyle.

That's why normal everyday people going full rick looks out of place and goofy. Or that's why teenagers going #menswear and dressing like 40yo bankers looks stupid as well.

It's only a matter of how much you know yourself

There is no real "point" to fashion.

Fashion exists as a market to sell people things they don't need, that will be eventually phased out so they have to buy it again. The fact is designers make "cool" clothes that are marketed as the hot new style so people HAVE to buy it to be "In style", but once you get past the materials clothing is made of and the quality of the fabric there really is no reason to buy anything. The only difference between walmart clothes and Rick Owens is a couple hundred dollars, shit if anyone on this board learned how to use a sewing machine you could literally make almost anything you see on a runway for a fraction of the price.

That's not true. My partner went to fashion skill and has industry level pattern making and sewing skills. She doesn't have access to the tools or the textiles that commercial designers have. The fabric alone purchased at small volumes to create or two garments would likely exceed the price of buying retail.
