He's a generalist acting like an all knowing specialist. As in he thinks he has a hand in every genre, when he's usually pretty clueless. That could be said for most reviewers really.

Take the recent Dance Gavin Dance review. The first half is him name dropping a bunch of big bands of the genre to seem like he's deep in knowledge of the scene and then compares them to DGD. Which like saying I hate the technical death metal Spawn of Possession because they don't sound like Metallica. Both metal, but on totally different sides of the spectrum, not just in playing style but in time.

People hate him because he's tries too hard, he doesn't have the half the knowledge required to pass judgement like he does. It'd be one thing if he said, "hey I don't know much about this genre or band, gave it a try, wasn't for me" instead of "this album is terrible, it has a trendy screamer and clean vocalist rips off Katy perry!! Exchanging cleans and screams is so over done!! 1 out of 10!"

Like really nigga, exchanging is the genre staple, which like saying the use of melisma in R&B is overdone.

This type of stuff happens a lot on his reviews, which why a lot of people hate him.
