Actually the other ones with the closed lacing aren't too bad. The ones with the open lacing are the main offenders for me. There's just something off about them, mostly in the way they're shaped.

Makes sense. They're laid back OC stoners, the collection really reflects that as well. Personally I like the polished rockabilly looks from SS14 alot more, but Hedi doesn't like popularity and with Saint Laurent blowing up lately (Bruno Mars singing about it in one of his songs...) I think he's trying hard to remove himself from the hype. I also think he went with sneakers this time around due to the popularity of Saint Laurent boots lately (the Wyatt, Chelsea, and Hedi versions) so again it goes back to an anti-thesis. He's just too cool for school really.

Well I personally don't understanding not lacing up the tongue on sleeker silhouettes like this to begin with, so I can see where you're coming from on that account.

As for the toebox itself, I feel like that varies a lot just because the toebox is how you finish the line down the leg/foot and also its proportion very much matters in relation to the other proportions of your lower body. I don't see a problem with it, but I'm not enamored by it, either.
