Had my Apple Watch fitting yesterday, it really raised my expectations. The machining and action of the digital crown was flawless. Apple doesn't usually polish their products and goes with a brushed aluminum finish, but this they obviously polished up. The sensor acts as a little stand, framing it on your wrist. The 42mm model wasn't nearly as bulky as I thought from the photos, the size seems to be both usable and sleek.

>> No.9837158

>>9837148
The standard jubilee is a folded-link lightweight rattly armhair-pulling cheap piece of shit. The super oyster has all solid links and endlinks and it feels much nicer. It also matches the brushed finish of the case and in my opinion the oyster style matches the watch much better than the outdated old-man jubilee style of the stock bracelet. The quality of the aftermarket bracelet is much more befitting of the quality of the watch itself.

It's a weird dressy style of bracelet to have on a tool diver which is unapologetically ugly with the big inelegant hands covered in lume and the maxi dial. An oyster bracelet seems a lot more fitting since that's pretty much the simplest and sturdiest bracelet style there is.

I really like moon phase watches so I think it's pretty cool.

I had a Vostok but it broke within a month, I got another one for free but some parts seem finicky with this one too. That said, it of course depends on the era it was made and the model itself. From what I've heard <1980's would be best because bankrupcy of the USSR and capitalistic influences (cheap parts, cheap workers) hadn't ravaged the watch factories yet.

Pros of Buying a Rolex:
- Unless abused, you can nearly always make money flipping them
- Timeless look
- It's a Rolex, even people who don't know watches will be impressed

Cons:
- if you don't look like you can afford it, people will automatically assume it's fake and they will deal with you as if you're the kind of person who wears a fake watch
- if you do look like you can afford it, people who appreciate watches will think of you as the kind of person who only went for Rolex because it is the 'standard issue' status symbol watch.

The exception to all of this is vintage Rolex. (Important to note, 'vintage Rolex' doesn't just mean 'old Rolex'. Vintage Rolexes are examples of important pieces from their history. An Air King from the early 80's that you got for 750.- is just an old Rolex.)
