I'm not seeing so much a S/S thing as a continuation of an aesthetic shift in emphasis that came last season.

Acronym's never been single-entendre anything, or unplayful, or srs kllng ppl gear, although much of it can be used as serious outdoor gear. But last season was... slouchier, chiller than anything we'd seen before. Less referential, more about a certain set of feelings about clothes and life. Like:

>P16 is Jamaican minimal. So stripped down and real that it's lost minimalism's rigid after taste. Smooth minimal. Relaxed minimal. Its free flow stance is encoded into it at the geometric level; almost invisible architecture hiding years of hard learned kinematic pattern trickery. And then this season they cut the slouchiest hardshell ever as a shawl collar sport jacket, set alongside grunge-slacker-y knitwear.

You can see it coming in some with the P17 drop crotch pants from last S/S, but they seemed a little out of place in Acronym them. Reprised this season, they seem right at home. The other pieces done out of the archive - the J29, J27, P10, and LA3-DS - are some of the least referential and most just awesome-person-doing-stuff-in-cool-clothes Acronym's done.

I like it loads, and I was a huge fan of Acronym before.

One of the reasons Go-Ruck is so expensive is because it's hand made in the US. When you're not paying your workers 30 cents an hour in a factory in China, things cost more.
With the pack also comes the lifetime warranty. Essentially you're paying a high price for something that could end up lasting you 15 - 20 years.
As for the aesthetic, I love it. It's the perfect balance of military and simple and the molle webbing actually comes in handy. I am a product design student and often need to carry large drawings two and from uni. I just attach a poster roll to the molle webbing and I'm set. Same goes for bike locks or sleeping rolls.

No one has yet to post an alternative. I'd be interested to see what you guys consider as a good contender.

Goruck as a "movement" is inseparable, is literally not separate from, Goruck as a company, and I think it's disgusting to buy into it any way.

But since we're talking fashion and image, Goruck bags are also super distinctive to anyone who's aware of what they are. They're subtle to people who don't know, but nothing looks quite like them and they stick out. I was surprised, too, the first time I saw one on the subway, but it couldn't have been more obvious.

Price is the most boring thing to talk about and I'm not sure why you keep bringing it up.

I've posted scads of bags at this point that might actually have something to do with what people on this maybe are, or could actually become, if they actually put some effort into developing real self-discipline instead of trying to buy it in a staged event and its stupid bags built to carry bricks. Those, or yeah, Mission Workshop, or tons of other awesome small bag companies I can't think of off the top of my head right now are so much more right for anyone who isn't running around shooting people in the interests of empire.

I'm looking for a small, discreet backpack that's waterproof. I like cycling, and generally walking around the city in any sort of weather.

I really liked this one by Rains, but I was hoping for something slightly smaller (pic related is 14.3 liters, not sure what sizes are standard for bags of this sort) in black, which is sold out, or grey. even an olive drab or khaki might be okay depending on how the design is.

what are some of your favorite designers for bags? not looking for something so pricey that it will make me cry rivers (e.g. $300+, sorry I'm poor/between jobs atm).

I'm surprised to hear 14L is on the smaller side, as it looks like a larger pack, though I didn't take into context its dimensions as well. I'm mainly looking to carry my aid kit (about the size of my Galaxy S5, at almost double the width including otterbox), a change of clothes, and my raincoat, which packs down pretty well. I'm pretty sure a tech pocket is standard by now, but in case it's not, it's always a bonus.

Are you sure you want a backpack and not a purse or a fanny bag? 14 liters is extremely small for a backpack. Even those small Fjällräven bookbags are what... 20-24L?

If youre worried it will !look big", get a backpack that is somewhat pear-shaped and that can be strapped tight when it's not full. I'm sure the craftmanship is great on alot of these designerbags - but I doubt that functionality trumps fashion, and believe many of them will under-perform compared to what you'll get from a good sports/backpack brand.

I've been looking for an interesting looking parka for quite a while ( for around 200-300$ ) and I sort of stumbled upon this, it's from the Alexander wang x H&M collab. I know this collection got it's share of negative criticism when it came out but this is fairly minimalist and I really like it's hood and collar.

I don't know about the A2B Chinos, but the original A2B pants are still available and they're super nice, especially for the price point.

Also, check Mission Workshop - which has, I think, superior Schoeller Dryskin slacks to Outlier - and Nau, which has stuff very similar to the Arc'Teryx pants. Swrve has a variety of cycling-oriented pants in a wide range of fabrics, and they're usually the cheapest for any given kind.

This is a military pack. Goruck does not make military packs. Goruck makes rather nice bookbags. Molle is optional. It's a functional design that has lasted decades because it works for carrying shit around the city on foot. It's not a travel pack, or a climbing pack, or a messenger pack, or a fashion pack, or a dry pack, because those designs involve making different compromises that might make it less than ideal if you're not doing what it was designed for. Don't even think about using a nonwoven dyneema pack in the city. It'll be destroyed in months.
