Can you actually wear that and feel 100% undisturbed?

Have you ever hit a girl wearing that?

How do you feel in general wearing this?

How do you feel when talking to people your age in this outfit? Could you describe what their facial expression was in such occasion?

How do you feel when talking to people younger than you?

What do you believe are anime fans general opinion on you?

Pls respond

I'm not seeing so much a S/S thing as a continuation of an aesthetic shift in emphasis that came last season.

Acronym's never been single-entendre anything, or unplayful, or srs kllng ppl gear, although much of it can be used as serious outdoor gear. But last season was... slouchier, chiller than anything we'd seen before. Less referential, more about a certain set of feelings about clothes and life. Like:

>P16 is Jamaican minimal. So stripped down and real that it's lost minimalism's rigid after taste. Smooth minimal. Relaxed minimal. Its free flow stance is encoded into it at the geometric level; almost invisible architecture hiding years of hard learned kinematic pattern trickery. Easily the most comfortable and dynamic pant we've ever cut. Fast and loose. And we\'re not going to explain the 4th dimension DEEPæ pockets. You'll just have to try them on to understand how they work. Gwan nuh.

And then this season they cut the slouchiest hardshell ever as a shawl collar sport jacket, set alongside grunge-slacker-y knitwear.

You can see it coming in some with the P17 drop crotch pants from last S/S, but they seemed a little out of place in Acronym them. Reprised this season, they seem right at home. The other pieces done out of the archive - the J29, J27, P10, and LA3-DS - are some of the least referential and most just awesome-person-doing-stuff-in-cool-clothes Acronym's done.

I like it loads, and I was a huge fan of Acronym before.

Anyone know what fabric this is?

I hate that "swelling cotton" line. I guess you need to assure people that cotton can be water resistant, but it always implies that it's special to ventile/etaproof/whatever. It's not, that's just what cotton canvas does.

Thanks for the info. I have some canvas outdoors stuff and water still permeates through eventually. I guess the process to weave cotton so densely makes this canvas special? Water rolls off this fabric almost like it was artificial and it never saturates.

It's from the Johanna F. Schneider collection for Nike. Schneider worked at Acronym for years, but Nike just commissioned her to design a collection of activewear.

The footwear are a studio wrap, part of a three piece footwear kit for exercises usually done barefoot.

One of the reasons Go-Ruck is so expensive is because it's hand made in the US. When you're not paying your workers 30 cents an hour in a factory in China, things cost more.
With the pack also comes the lifetime warranty. Essentially you're paying a high price for something that could end up lasting you 15 - 20 years.
As for the aesthetic, I love it. It's the perfect balance of military and simple and the molle webbing actually comes in handy. I am a product design student and often need to carry large drawings two and from uni. I just attach a poster roll to the molle webbing and I'm set. Same goes for bike locks or sleeping rolls.

No one has yet to post an alternative. I'd be interested to see what you guys consider as a good contender.

Turns out I cut Goruck in two threads. Second one has a list of recommendations particularized to an OP, but I'd stress "the usual outdoor brands" more for a general audience, and all the other great cycling bag brands.

Also any of the other small, exotic climbing/hiking bag makers besides Cilogear (Hyperlite, ZPacks, etc.) and good traveler companies like Tom Bihn.

>>/fa/thread/S8376010#p8376502

To copy-paste up an argument:

>Do you really want to be lopped in with the crowd of, apparently invariably, men who buy into this whole cult of play toughness and military worship? Who need a constructed "challenge" to display they're tough big boys and use their body? Who buy gear too special for real soldiers and voluntarily put *bricks* in it 'cuz showoff and no real reasons?

>It's 1) militarism, as distinct from the military - the worship of the military and the takeup of martial values, the mindset of combat, etc. by civil society. And 2) the allied cult of toughness and performance and forced elitism, yoked by the idea of militarism that "tactical" represents the highest standard of human excellence. GoRuck is maybe the nadir of both #2 and it's yoking to #1.

>Actual Special Forces guys? Yeah, they're admirable in some, many ways. You're not them, even if you're paying some hustler ex-operator. Go do your own awesome and stop trying to glom on to theirs. You can do better than the allure of competence in the service of power.

I'm not talking about Go-Ruck as a movement, I'm talking about Go-Ruck as a manufacturer of backpacks. And there is nothing wrong with people taking part in Go-Ruck events. It encourages fitness and discipline and if people enjoy doing it and it gives them something to work towards, then great. I'm sad to hear that military training scares you so much. Maybe you can keep munching on your kale and sipping on your organic juices with your hands over your ears and it will all go away.

As for being "lopped in with a crowd", the Go-Ruck products themselves hardly scream "GO-RUCK!". In fact they are the complete opposite and just look like a black backpack.

In one of your other comments you recommended Mission Workshop. I like their bags and think they are quality as well but they are pretty much the same price as Go-Ruck in the end. In some cases more.
I think your issue with Go-Ruck is not due to what they produce or what they price their products at, but more what they do and stand for because according to you, self discipline and trying is "uncool". Get a grip.

No, didn't say anything about self-discipline and trying being bad. I'm saying needing to tie it to an artificially constructed challenge, explicitly modeled to aim after a marital mindset, is fucking noxious and dull and insubstantial and pointless.

There are literally dozens of other physical and potentially social activities that are more autotelic, aren't tied at their fucking roots to organized state violence, and are at base *more* involved with self-discipline, because the first pillar of self-discipline is a realness about who you are and what your purpose is. Your purpose has *nothing* in common with actual soldiers, or you'd be one, and their values and mindsets have no use to you that you couldn't come by better and more honestly and with some substance otherwise.

Goruck as a "movement" is inseparable, is literally not separate from, Goruck as a company, and I think it's disgusting to buy into it any way.

But since we're talking fashion and image, Goruck bags are also super distinctive to anyone who's aware of what they are. They're subtle to people who don't know, but nothing looks quite like them and they stick out. I was surprised, too, the first time I saw one on the subway, but it couldn't have been more obvious.

Price is the most boring thing to talk about and I'm not sure why you keep bringing it up.

I've posted scads of bags at this point that might actually have something to do with what people on this maybe are, or could actually become, if they actually put some effort into developing real self-discipline instead of trying to buy it in a staged event and its stupid bags built to carry bricks. Those, or yeah, Mission Workshop, or tons of other awesome small bag companies I can't think of off the top of my head right now are so much more right for anyone who isn't running around shooting people in the interests of empire.

I'm looking for a small, discreet backpack that's waterproof. I like cycling, and generally walking around the city in any sort of weather.

I really liked this one by Rains, but I was hoping for something slightly smaller (pic related is 14.3 liters, not sure what sizes are standard for bags of this sort) in black, which is sold out, or grey. even an olive drab or khaki might be okay depending on how the design is.

what are some of your favorite designers for bags? not looking for something so pricey that it will make me cry rivers (e.g. $300+, sorry I'm poor/between jobs atm).

What are you looking to carry in it? 14 liters is actually on the small end of a daypack. They're usually like 18-30 depending on size, usually about 20.

Also, a sense of a budget? "As cheap as possible, I'm broke" is a completely useful answer, too.

anything around/below the $300 price. I'm not looking to spend that much more, but I will if I fall in love with something. since I'm not sure if that was sarcasm or not, sorry, I thought that my budget was implied.

I'm surprised to hear 14L is on the smaller side, as it looks like a larger pack, though I didn't take into context its dimensions as well. I'm mainly looking to carry my aid kit (about the size of my Galaxy S5, at almost double the width including otterbox), a change of clothes, and my raincoat, which packs down pretty well. I'm pretty sure a tech pocket is standard by now, but in case it's not, it's always a bonus.

what I'm worried about is having too much space, which usually entices me to carrying stuff I don't really need around with me, or worse, feeling like I spent more to be carrying around an almost-empty pack.

Are you sure you want a backpack and not a purse or a fanny bag? 14 liters is extremely small for a backpack. Even those small Fjällräven bookbags are what... 20-24L?

If youre worried it will !look big", get a backpack that is somewhat pear-shaped and that can be strapped tight when it's not full. I'm sure the craftmanship is great on alot of these designerbags - but I doubt that functionality trumps fashion, and believe many of them will under-perform compared to what you'll get from a good sports/backpack brand.

Not a very techwear-ish pic, but check out Arc'teryx A2B chinos, jacket and shell jacket. The new chinos look alot better than those awkward "casual" cyclingpants they made before. And they cost less than half of what a paior of Arc'teryx Veilance chinos will set you back.

I've been looking for an interesting looking parka for quite a while ( for around 200-300$ ) and I sort of stumbled upon this, it's from the Alexander wang x H&M collab. I know this collection got it's share of negative criticism when it came out but this is fairly minimalist and I really like it's hood and collar.

Should I cop? Any other parka/windbreaker suggestions?

I don't know about the A2B Chinos, but the original A2B pants are still available and they're super nice, especially for the price point.

Also, check Mission Workshop - which has, I think, superior Schoeller Dryskin slacks to Outlier - and Nau, which has stuff very similar to the Arc'Teryx pants. Swrve has a variety of cycling-oriented pants in a wide range of fabrics, and they're usually the cheapest for any given kind.

What exactly are you looking for? A rain jacket/shell, or something insulated?

I like Goruck packs, they're pretty nice but too expensive for what they offer.

In terms of the Goruck challenge? They've convinced Lumbersexual military hipsters to pay $700 for a meaningless PT session, and not only that but they've framed it as an amazing achievement. They're fucking geniuses.

This is a military pack. Goruck does not make military packs. Goruck makes rather nice bookbags. Molle is optional. It's a functional design that has lasted decades because it works for carrying shit around the city on foot. It's not a travel pack, or a climbing pack, or a messenger pack, or a fashion pack, or a dry pack, because those designs involve making different compromises that might make it less than ideal if you're not doing what it was designed for. Don't even think about using a nonwoven dyneema pack in the city. It'll be destroyed in months.

As for supporting state violence, well, you're doing that anyway. I doubt that you're some crusty posting to 4chan from a library computer about $300 backpacks. I think you're a lot more concerned about whether your slack-leftist friends think you're supporting something unsavory than anything else.
