ok, if nobody is going to start, i might as well

here pictured is the merino wool sweater, which was a key piece in KVA's fw/14 runway show

very nice construction, material feels luxurious and warm

i bought mine more oversized, so it looks chunkier on me, but this can be combined with a button up very easily, like in pic related

Prorsum tumbled leather double breasted biker jacket by Christopher Bailey in around F/W 2012 - not featured on the runway though, which is odd.

This may be my favorite leather of all time. I'm not as big of a fan of the extremely cropped proportions, especially right around the waist where it is extremely tight, but it works very well in the few fits I've seen it with. I will be putting $1,300 down for one when I get to NYC over Spring Break.

This cloak thing from Dior Homme AW12. The shape and proportions on this are really crazy, and the bird motif always reminded me on the YSL dove which I really like. Never seen it up for sale online though.

Got a pair of IS heavy tweed curved pants from AW11. Very nice, substantial and thick, good texture, construction is top notch.

One gripe tho the previous owner smoked. The thing has got that dank ass smell. Input on how to get rid of it?

Tag says do not wash over 40 degrees and dont handwash. Iffy about dry cleaning because last time i did that for a coat it smelled like industrial grade cleaning products. Fuck that.

one of my favorite pieces

Helmut Lang elongated mohair sweater with slashed sleeves
A/W 1993

The deconstructed style later came to define Lang's work and slashed sleeves were a common feature of his womenswear. This is one of the earlier examples I've seen.

It's a perfect blend of luxury and sexy street that Helmut was so good at. His designs ooze sex appeal while remaining modest.

This piece hints at nudity with the see through material and elbow cutouts, but the cut of the garment is modest. It's versatile depending on how you style it. If you're bold you can wear it with nothing under it at which point you're not hiding much or you can style it with a tank or another shirt.

It's made from mohair, which is traditionally a luxury material. He's turned that luxury on end as a hip clubber type garment.

It's minimalistic shape and subtle details like the cross darts and cutouts foreshadow his later work.

another favorite
CDG circle jacket
not sure what season

So many of Rei's designs astound me. The stuff she's was doing thirty years ago was groundbreaking then, yet it still feels fresh. She was on that distressed look train before anyone else had bought a ticket.

The fact that this jacket is a circle when laid flat and still looks awesome when fitted on a human torso is so nutso. It's got a fantastic layered look that holds its shape in the substantial fabric. The raw hem is edgy and masculine, but the curve of the hem is feminine. The high asymmetric neck predicts the look later championed by Rick Owens in his leathers.

Yohji Yamamoto sweater
A/W 1992

This is the only photo I've seen of the garment. I think the fact that I can fall in love with a piece from a single photo says a lot.

The sweater is substantial and the wide ribbing gives it a chunky feel, but the vertical ribbing elongates the shape, slimming it into a form fitting garment. The elongation is carried on through the oversized sleeves. The extended side/back piece echoes the sleeves and drapes across the ass, accentuating the feminine curves.

Horizontal ribbing contrasts with the vertical and leads the eye across to the extended back area. The horizontal ribbing also creates interesting lines that follow the curve of the hips in the same way that the extended piece follows the butt.

If anyone has other views of this piece please post them!

Cant day much about CD as i've yet to actually handle his stuff. Aesthetically overall i can dig what he does, sort of out there with punk-rockish influences but much more restrained and refined

Anrealage seems to focus more on womens and some unisex looking things afaik. Fell in love with one of their sweaters. Was a basic white sweat with red orange sand dune print/block of color on the bottom half, but something about that worked out really really well.

Dressedundressed i kinda see in a similar vein to CD, they churn out bombers in similar silhouettes every season. Almost always puffy/oversized and relaxed on the arms with a cropped height, which is refreshing from all the "slim bombers" people went for in the past year. Again afaik some of their bombers are unisex with slight changes in details like straps, hidden hood, and additional pockets

Thanks for posting these great pictures guys, but I'm really interested in hearing your opinions on the pieces instead of just seeing them and I think OP had that in mind for the thread.

I think it's valuable to have an exchange of ideas along with the images. It's awesome to hear someone else's take on a piece. It opens up new perspectives and helps develop your critical eye.

Corrected grain has a distinct shine/graining vs full grain
Just get a hold of h&m, zara, and similar mall brand clothes to get a feel what CG looks like. FG has more distinct textures (not to be confused with pebble grain which can be embossed)

Stitching and welt. Still learning myself but have a look at the soles, sole thickness, etc

I should clarify i tend to find thin plastic soles usually means a cemented/glued on shoe. Has some pros construction wise but i just dont like em. So are fake welts on the top sole, usually fused with the sole and plastic

De Rien oxblood mud silk jacket
S/S 2013

This one is gorgeous, rare, and expensive, but with good reason. Mud silk is a thousands of years old Chinese technique in which the silk is actually rubbed with or buried under iron rich mud. The fabric is smooth and silky and the naturally achieved patterning is ridiculously cool. True handmade luxury.

The dark burgundy with almost black lapels along with the extended length give it an old fashioned feel like an edwardian smoking jacket. The slim sleeves, single button, and weathered pattern update the piece with an edgy modern look.

If you're interested, you can read more about mud silk here:

Issey Miyake green wool jacket with steel rings
season unknown, but I'd guess it's from the '80's

This is, at its core, a very simple piece. There are no pockets and no embellishments besides the rings. The details of the cut and hardware are what make it special to me.

The cut is to the point, almost severe in it's taper from the oversized shoulders to the abdomen. It reminds me of an old school teacher's shirt or a cinched military jacket.

Both the cut and the rings draw from corsets. The rings echo the eyelets for corset strings and the ability to clip the rear rings makes the garment function in a similar manner.

The cropped length, extended tails, heavy taper, and wide lapels reference old fashioned mens morning coats. The cropped length, substantial metal rings, and single button gives a modern look for the increasingly independent woman.

Yeah, to an extent. She pioneered a more casual look for women that forewent the corset and relaxed the silhouette. I'd say YSL had the biggest influence on masculine styles for women with his iconic suit Le Smoking suit from 1966. The idea of a fitted suit with pants for women was daring and empowering for women of the time.

These drkshdw cargo pants are made from a stiff nylon/cotton blend that has a dull sheen to it. There are 7 pockets. 2 in the back, A double layered pocket on each side at the front and a zip pocket on the back of the waist sash which which is fixed in place with velcro.

Really exemplifies rick's style with the drop crotch and diagonal line created by the sash.

unfortunately a lot of rick's pants are really uncomfortable to wear because of the extreme dropcrotch (he needs to shift it up above the knee fucking goddamnit rick).

The fit altogether is one of my favourites and actually something that could be worn in every day life without people looking strange at you (geo baskets, etc., no offense /fa/).
The reason I enjoy it so much must be due to colour contrasts. The scarf stands out while the rest of the fit is rather neutral.
So since this thread is about a specific clothing rather than a fit, then I guess this post is more relevant for the scarf rather than the rest of the fit.

I'd post in a fuccboi general but I figure you guys here would understand better

I've got a dilemma /fa/, copped a pair of long curved pants but i might have copped the wrong size, i.e sized one up. Waist is ok, sort of puffy maybe on the hips but the main thing is the hem is waaaaay too long. I get that its meant to stack and all but how its bunching on my legs look ridiculously bulky. How bad of an idea it is to hem them with a tailor at an angle?

The last thing I wanna do is ruin the balance. Its either i try to make it work or sell it and find a replacement if i'm lucky (old season stuff)

This coat by Acne studio. I struggle to find a good jacket that actually fits me, granted that they are either too small or too professional looking. This one, with the deeper opening and the laidback look is perfect at least for my taste, because it gives this dressed up/laidback vibe without being too dressy !

well, the hem is supposed to be super long, but since they are too wide, the stacking is off
if you find a tailor you trust, he can make them slimmer, which would solve the problem of weird stacking

now i don't know if you have acces to a tailor who could alter curved seams, so your best bet might be reselling them

They're not bad quality per se, there are just some limitations of the material. Tyvek is a really noisy fabric so the coat will be loud to move around in. Additionally, the lettering is 'designed' to wear off over time.
