/fa/, wondering the following:

is farting effay? Farting as in like, in public. Reason I ask is because obviously bikram yoga is effay and there's obviously a lot of free flatulence that goes on in there. Secondly, people that tend to do bikram yoga are more free-spirited, wealthy and careless in a good sort of way, so wouldn't you think when out in public, these types couldn't be bothered to worry about holding it in? Idk. To me, it seems like it would kind of make a little statement. Sort of like, "I'm so free and without worry with my body that I will express myself as I need to."

Thoughts?

Free spirit or not it's a bad smell so if you do it around people freely they'll think less of you for it probably.

Ah, you raise a good point: the smell.

Now, if the smell is reminiscent of something cheap and bad for you like McDonald's or KFC, then no; I wouldn't want others to smell it as they'll be able to sniff out the types of foods I'm eating which is indicative of me as a person and my financial status. But if I'm pushing out something that smells like expensive food such as kale or smoothies from Whole Foods or quinoa, then people will know more accurately that I'm doing well in life.

So I don't think it's completely fair to shut the book on farting in public because of the smell. It can tell a lot about you if done correctly.

Still serious, here. We've covered two basic points so far: 1) farting in general and 2) the smell. There's another point: the sound. The sound of it kinda demonstrates how mature the person. Meaning like, if it's a really loud, forced fart, then that person is probably trying to be funny or gross or something. Instead, if it's a basic fart; just one where the person kinda pushes it out, it sort of says, "I don't hold back in life" (which could demonstrate power) or also, "Yep, I farted. Cuz I'm a human and I don't have many worries because I'm both wealthy and well-cultured."

Is nobody fucking with me on this one??? Nobody has ever thought about this before? Wow.

Something I forgot to add:

since there seems to be a little comprehension problem going on and since this is /fa/ afterall, I'll use a fashionable icon you probably all look up to in attempt to help better understand my point.

George Zimmer, CEO of The Men's Wearhouse. This guy's got everyting: money, power, respect as a fashonista icon, cars, etc. Imagine his tagline for a second was, "You're gonna like the way I fart. I guarantee it..." Do you think people wuld still respect him? Of COURSE they would. And probably more, because he's talking about a fairly taboo subject that... could very well be... pretty fashionable when examined further.
