to be completely honest, it's the only game i can bring myself to play. of course i am hyped for mgsv, and the other mgs games are great as well, but I otherwise really haven't stumbled on a title that interests me at all besides a simple playthrough.

Dead Cell are easily the worst antagonising group in the whole 3D series. Unless you count PO, and nobody counts PO.

Graphics are wonky. Early 2000's uncanny valley in full effect. They even changed the Codec to rendered models so there's no escaping Ken Doll Raiden's dead stare and fish mouth.

The plant chapter stands as one of the most baffling developer decisions in history. Tanker was the closest thing to flawless I've experienced in a video game. The game should have been sneaking onto the tanker at harbor, being on the tanker on a voyage, then sneaking around some far flung enemy base. As Snake. No one asked for the transition to some whiny faggot on an oil rig.

Speaking of whiny faggots MGS2 has one of the worst casts of any game, ever. Raiden is a shit and absolutely deserves all the hate he gets. Couldn't they have turned it down a notch? I know he's supposed to be an immature rookie but he sounds like my spoiled 7yr old nephew. Rose is not as bad as people say but the dialogue she shares with Raiden is all sorts of cringe. Everybody else in this game is just cringe overload. The spunky incestuous escort mission bitch who dies pointlessly, the overtly sexualized vampire, the cartoon accent russian chick, the crying edgy black girl, the badass villain with noble goals who Kojima unnecessarily made into an edgy asshole.. I am overall embarrassed to play this game when other people are around.

Finally the story's reach exceeds it's grasp. A clusterfuck of potentially interesting concepts are touched upon and forgotten. There are plot holes big enough to fly a harrier through. Liquid Arm is the dumbest fucking thing ever. It goes on.

Some of the points of you made are true. The game has high points, perhaps more than people give it credit for. MGS2 is still ruined by its bewilderingly massive flaws.
