Goodwill is expensive.. I always try to go to St Vincents, or no-name thrift shops. Found some old hawain[sp] shirts from the 60s. My dad told me they are worth a lot if they are the real deal. Bought em for 2 bucks a piece. I have 10 of them.

Just luck I guess! I've seen some people who I presume buy stuff to sell in vintage stores, and what they do is go through the racks quickly and comb through every item. If it 1) feels expensive (like rigid denim vs. soft denim, or real wool vs. acrylic) or 2) looks good (stands out from the ordinary or looks like a brand/designer you recognize) then they stop to examine it. And they go through both the men's and women's aisles. Also even if you're just thrifting for yourself like I do, the staff might accidentally put men's clothing in the women's area so you might as well go check. I really don't go thrifting that much, but the best advice I can give you is to just go often and to different spots, and know when they restock etc.

Also don't underestimate Craigslist/Kijiji, I lowball certain clothes (take a guess) on there and relist them for 1-2 hundred profit.. It's slow but it's an okay side job or a good way to get used brand name stuff :)

I got some nice vintage Helmut pants for ten bucks. Also scored some early APC trousers before they got shitty and some Kapital denim. Two of my favorite sweaters are thrifted.

I find plenty of cool non-fashion things at thrift stores, but I'm pretty picky about clothing cops. As someone else mentioned, consignment stores have better stock, but there's a pleasant magic in finding a good piece at someplace like Goodwill.

One of the trips here found some Ann D ombre lows for like ten bucks at Goodwill. I can't remember who it was. The sole on one was a little fucked up, but a cobbler fixed it.

I've seen some designer labels like Raf and Jil pop up at Goodwill, but it's generally ugly shit or size xxl or something.

Not really a thrift shop but I found a Nike Manchester City N98 jacket at a Burkes Outlet for 20 bucks.

Don't really care anything about English soccer but it's a cool jacket.

I got this yesterday at Salvation Army for 10 bucks. I've been looking for a longline coat so this was a dream as soon as I saw. It fits really nice however its an awkward length because of my 5ft 3' stature (im a woman) it ends right in the middle of my kneecaps, thus making me look shorter/stockier. Would it be worth getting the hem tailored up two inches? The lining seems detatched from the bottom (will post another pictures) so it wouldn't cost too much.. Right?
