I would recommend MK. They are decent basic entry-level bags if you don't have much of a budget. On top of this, new-money Asians are crazy for them, so they have inflated value at the moment.

I would say Michael Kors, Kate Spade, or Miu Miu are basic brands; the ones I listed are quite well-regarded as far as handbags go.

Michael kors have blatantly copied the LV never full. They look like try hard bags in my opinion. I carry a Kate Spade for work, it's functional but most of the kate spades are not as beautifully made as others in a similar price range without the commercial success of Kate spade. I love the 3.1 Philip Lim bags. take a look at the net-a-porter website...
