i know this is not the best board for this shit but fuck it noone else even has an answer

i looked up a tutorial on making nail polish matte with steam but shit only lasts like an hour. has anyone else done this and got better results? if so, how?

No matte topcoat is going to last longer than ~4 days because any wear on the nails gives a sheen and it's not a protective layer like a normal top coat so doesn't give protection against chips, but at least it's a hell of a lot longer than a steaming. I've used very cheap and more expensive ones and there's very little difference in wear time between them. Essie and Barry M are my top two for matte top coats and Essie is over twice the price so it makes sense to recommend someone, who evidently isn't all that into nails if they think a steam will do the job, the best price to effectiveness I've found.
