Photography is an /fa/ hobby, right?

yeah it is, do you have any recommendations for someone looking to get into photography?

asking for a friend

>> No.9310882

>>9310875

only fashion photography.

I mean nat geo photography is cool and all, but damn fashion photography is where it's at.

sadly, yes.
Everyone think he's a good photographer it's embarrassing

>> No.9310888

I shy away from photography because I know a lot of hipsters who are into it and whenever they talk about camera models and lenses it makes me want to blow my brains out, not to mention these guys need to take a picture of everything single thing they see and try to put enigmatic meaning into it so it's "art"

but if you like it, go for it man, no need to get validation from the fashion section of your favorite indonesian claymation board

Everyone loves photography, take it seriously but otherwise act as if it's nothing

Lurking /p/ seems like a good idea. Unlike most boards on 4chan there's much less shitposting and more harsh criticism to shy away tumblr fucks so you're left with genuine knowledge.

Look for a second hand Lumix G3, Olympus Pen E-P3 or older or Fujifilm XF1.
It's not about the gear it's about having a good eye

Sounds like /ic/. But maybe with +5 shit posting.

I have no idea where to buy second hand goods, Maybe try a charity shop or the for sale pages of your local newspaper.

If you can't even think about where to buy something second hand good like thinking about composition, lighting, framing and lenses

>> No.9310991

i don't understand your last sentence

but yeah i get that photography is complicated because it's an art, but i'm very artistic so don't worry about it

>> No.9311082

I like talking technical about cameras, but yeah the everyday shit that gets photographed is boring. However, that is the only way to improve, is through all of that practice. It would just be wiser to spend it practicing challenging photos, not the diarrhoea cafe pictures and trees.

A simple guide to photography:

Do you scoff at people who use iPhones as cameras?

if yes: do not do photography and shave your waxed mustache
if no: try photography

>> No.9311151

>>9310965
read up on cameras before buying one, it doesn't take long to learn the technicalities

ultimately camera doesn't really matter as long as it takes pictures, unless you want to be a protog

>> No.9311241

Buy a disposable film camera first.

Limited enough for you to consider what you're doing (technically) and cheap enough that if you produce a shit roll (more than likely) it hasn't really cost you anything. In my experience, digital makes you lazy since you have infinite retakes.
