You two forgot any B&W headphones and AIAIAI.
Agreed on Sennheiser HD25-1 II, but would say the Amperior/Aluminum versions are more effay.
Since it has more quality parts.
Alessandro, Beyers, or any Grado products can't even be used outside because of them being opened. Which isn't effay at all. No one wants to hear that shit.
V-Modas are close to Beats. Even its sound signature is similar.
Don't know why you would say Philips Fidelio are effay.
By looks sure they are quality, but since it's open literally everyone will look at you with disdain.
Also Skullcandy anything. Literally plebian tier.

My recommendations for any /fa/ person is any IDM for portable use.

>Bose QuietComfort 3, 15, 25
>AKG K495, K545, K451
>Koss Portapro
>Audiotechnica Any of the on ears.
>Beyerdynamic Any T50 and Delta series (Sort of...)
>Bowers & Wilkins Any works I guess.

Now for the best part.
Best home based headphones (May require DAC/Amp)
>HIFIMAN HE-400i, HE-560
>Sennheiser any over-ear headphone
>Aude'ze Any... LITERALLY ANY.
>AKG Any one that has steel or metal parts, AKA K550+
>Grado Any works, but prefered to get SR325is and any that are more expensive.
>Sony MDR series. Any that is like the MA900 or 1R
>BEST OF THE BEST MRSPEAKERS ALPHA DOGS. AKA MY GRAIL.

Alessandro are good, but are technically knock off Grados. And in the music community they get confused often.
So might aswell get Grados. IF its for style/look.
Also remember to go on Head-fi for more information and follow some audiophile reviewers like Innerfidelity.

Are K550's /fa/?

Yeah they look nice, but

>9ft un-detachable cable
>probably requires amp like most AKG headphones

So putting that model outside is giving the wrong idea since these aren't not very portable. Also I've heard they have issues with treble spikes.

The thing is that they aren't meant to be *portable* at least not as much as the Sennheiser HD25 series.
I owned AIAIAI's once and the headband broke on me.
Also there is always modding.
TMA's are made for DJing though. Or you could wrap the cord into your pocket.

>>9099494
I have em. Not good in public. The wire is HUGE.
Although they are one of the finest headphones I've ever seen by design. Matte rubber with metal components. Also can get uncomfortable while moving, because the pad on top is small.
Also by a sound stand point. The treble can be lean and harsh at times if not adjusted. You don't technically need an amp, but it can fix a lot of issues it has.
Also playing around with equalizers work wonders on it too.

>>9097896
See these are ok, but aren't portable for jack shit. Also for such a low price they wouldn't last as long as higher priced products.
And I would think their sound signature is bass heavy since they don't look monitoring standards.

>>9096224
I can see that Portapro's represent the Tech nerds. But from my experience Skull Candy were terrible. At least when I tried them years ago.
I guess The Aviator is their leading headphone though.

>>9096222
Fuck off. These are never /fa/. FUCK YOU EAR AIDS.

It's one of the prettiest AKG, but suffer the same problem: too fucking large on most people's heads. And the cord is either long (straight) or big (coil).
If you dig that look and want at least the same quality and build, go for Focal Spirit range

Know what. Just get these. The K545 are technically better then K550's in everyway when it comes to design and sound.
Idk about color, but there are definitely more colors this time around.

As a musician, I've been in the studio quite a bit and the best headphones you can get for less than $100 are SONY MDR-7506's. I know a lot of people dislike them, but a lot of my musician friends swear by them as well. I had a music theory professor that also had a pair since the 90's. Made out of all metal and mostly black, they're pretty good looking. the only issue is that the cord is a coil which is not necessarily bad because the wire starting from the headphone doesn't turn into coil until like 1 ft.

I play drums and jazz mostly fyi and these things are bretty gud/10. I got mine for $80 and they haven't made my ear sore or anything and I get asked what they are pretty often like "yo dude what headphones are those." I mean these look super straight forward as headphones because they're like the AK-47 of headphones
