raf's footwear has never been his strong point in terms of manufacturing quality even before ,they were hyped, a lot of people sold their motos for quite a small sum (~$220) quite soon after buying
now i don't know if you can gleam everything for that, but i know having owned white MII velcros and handled a lot of more recent raf footwear, from the MIP velcroes to the adirafs, there isn't a great disparity, but then again i've never really been impressed by designer sneakers

There were no issues with his footwear from the early days. It was all high quality stuff and made in Italy. The only issue that comes to mind is with the aw06 zipper boots and the lining between zippers getting torn to shreds. I guess the silver reflective astros were pretty shit, too because the material broke and flaked off. Otherwise it's all good.

the made in italy velcros are as well made as any designer sneaker on the market. the baby calf leather is fantastic, they age wonderfully, the shoes develop a lovely patina over time.

the aw06 zipper boots are also great, though not without flaws, the default soles are certainly not designed for extensive wear. the lining between the zips is also not meant for extended practical application.

the motos are functionable, though again the sole wears quickly, the leather is also of a fine quality.

the made in portugal iterations of all his shoes, as well as the adidas collabs are total dogshit in comparison, from both a quality and design perspective.

you know what's so great about y!j and rak? it's that it provides a pretty reliable medium for students to experience the highest quality of clothing for $40-$100, making it affordable. but when it gets mined by resellers who have the facilities and ambition to out compete for little more reason than acting as a transit for rich old clients (who are too lazy to do otherwise) it kind of marginalises the audience and pushes the price floor. so that kid that really wanted that yohji jacket and it'd only cost em a dinner or something will never know it.
