About a week ago I purchased a de safety razor. I use feather blades and cream o cream shave cream. I still get irritation not as bad as my gillette razor used to give. Does anybody have a simple remedy to get my skin to stop getting irritated when I shave. Btw I shave every morning and have been putting neosporin and moisturizer on it.

Use some after shave product.

Shave with the grain, across the grain, then against the grain.

Use little no force while shaving, just direct the razor over your face.
Use a new razor every shave.

Some take DE shaving much more serious than I, hop on youtube for some hobbyists' info.

I do use aftershave. But it just dries out my skin. So I stopped using it.

Find one with alcohol in it, Nivea moisturizing after shave lotion is the best

Watch 'nick shaves' videos on yt, he has sensitive skin too and only shaves with the grain then across the grain, never against it. In his soap shave reviews he always shows the technique.
He only uses warm water as pre shave.

Also you might want to downgrade to a less agressive blade (shark, merkur, personna), as feathers are the sharpest in the market.

I'll pick up some of that nivea with alocohol in it. So sharper the blade doesn't mean a better shave? Also does a strait edge work any better?

I saw your advice last time you posted, and it's probably the worst advice you can give someone when it comes to shaving.

Wet shaving is not only cheaper in the mid-long run (it started to be cost effective for me 9 months after the initial investment), but gives a closer shave with no irritation, provided the technique is good and the razor - razor blade setup is the right one for your skin and beard.

When will people understand that, when your technique is negligent and your knowledge is next to none, you should not give advice?

make a better lather first. also use a more gentle blade like bic. feather is very unforgiving

you literally just got the razor.
you're going to need practice to get the technique right.
keep at it for a month and if you're still getting irritation, try a different blade. that's what blade samplers are for.

I always use an after shave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion.

>> No.9037487

Modern day shit sucks. I'm still getting a much better shave than I ever did with a multi-blade razor. I'm just trying for perfection now.

OP, have you tried using a scrub or exfoliant beforehand?

How do you get rid of shadow?

I'm a woman and I don't grow a mustache, but the skin is dark on my upper lip as if one might spurt out one day. Do you guys think skin bleach or something would work for that?

wax that shit stop shaving it lol

>> No.9037873

Yes, I was getting the same irritation as you until I actually started focusing on what 'with the grain' meant.

It doesn't mean always shaving downward, it means you have to learn what the direction of growth for each individual hair is and shave in that direction. It will take a few passes.

Also hot water and proper lathering.

Anyone tried waxing or facial hair removal creams? The only facial hair I can grow is a mustache, but I have really pale skin and you can see the hairs beneath the surface of the skin so it always looks like a have a mustache even right after shaving.
