Time once again fuccbois! Keep all Uniqlo posts in one thread

What are you
>Copping
>Mirin
>regretting

General etiquette
- NO SHILLING. Uniqlo has some good stuff, but equally bad stuff. Just because you like Uniqlo doesn't mean everyone should buy Uniqlo

-Pics are generally encouraged. There are some actually cool pieces on Uniqlo, but a lot of people don't have one and rely on other anons. So if you get something, feel free to post a pic or your experience.

-Be constructive. Explain why something is shit.

+J drops tomorrow. Who hype?

They aren't really THAT good but the supima cottons feel nicer than my shirts from say American Apparel

Does anybody own the slubby cotton sweater? I'm not sure how to size it (or even if the size works for me) I Just got a Japan Blue Sweatshirt from them in small and it was too small and too short, so I might try sizing up to a medium. (I wear a small in their t shirts)

Measurements list this slubby cotton sweater as shorter than the JP sweatshirt though so I'm a bit hesitant. Anybody own it and wanna comment? (5'11 reporting in)

Nah, it was actually p. good for the price. (I've never owned a lot of sweatshirts from more expensive brands though)
It was actually a pretty thick and heavy sweatshirt. I'd recommend it if the sizing is right for you. For 40 bucks, a lot better than the other sweatshirts from Uniqlo I bet.

Here's my situation. I live in Canada so there's no Uniqlo. I'm going on a trip to the United States of America this weekend. I need everything to start a new wardrobe except shoes and boots.

What are the must buys when starting over? I desperatly need tops of all kind and pants specifically jeans. I intend to buy everything I need in this trip.

What are your suggestions of the best things to cop at Uniqlo? I intend on buying a shitload of stuff so send a lot of suggestions/pics.

Here was mine in small. (5'11, 130 lbs)

I think they are alright for 30 bucks, but I'm in between sizes on them because I tried an XS in grey a while back and it felt pretty constricting.

It got better after I washed in hot and dryer, but it just wasn't for me.

If you have a little more meat on your body, they are probably good for the price.

I prefer my J.Crew slim oxfords over these though. Hope this helps!

Also, here is the deal with flannels and oxfords.

Oxfords - tucked in? Fine, but it isn't very casual. I think chinos, tucked in oxford and a pair of sneaks is p. chill but I don't think it is something you'd wanna wear really often.Tucking is just more for bizcaz.
don't tuck in jeans.

Flannels are a little different. If you are a fit type of guy, and have a work wear aesthetic, then fuck yeah it'll look great. If you are unsure if you can pull it off, you probably can't.

AUSbro here, bought some stuff from the new Uniqlo online store.

Pretty pleased, for $15 AUD each the Supima %100 cotton tees are pretty much the best value for money, much better and cheaper than most shit at Cotton On, Factorie, General Pants, Zara, etc.

Nice cuts, I really like how they fit, grabbed a bunch of them to replace my old plain colour tees. The waffles and henleys are pretty nice too.

Quick shipping, easy returns (tried a few sizes and stuff) and free shipping over a certain amount, I think over $50 or $100?

Would recommend by a mile over every other mall-tier chain in Aus, especially at the price.

Can anyone give me their opinion on what size to take for the down coat/vest?

I am not sure whether i should take a xs or s in the coat and s or medium in the vest. For reference my measurements are 36" chest, 5'5"ish height, around 130-135lbs weight and for most tops in uniqlo I take medium(t-shirt, sweatshirt, shirts) because I don't like tight fighting clothes. but with the coat I know the sleeves would be way too long with a medium.

>> No.8925549

When I first came to /fa/ I used to think Uniqlo was the shit because it was way better than what I was used to, but I'm starting to get disillusioned with it. Almost anything at Uniqlo can be found for 2x the quality at J Crew or Gap. I'll rate everything I've bought from there

> Oxfords

Sort of thin and not very soft, as a result they wrinkle easily and cant absorb any sweat without looking like shit. I've since replaced them with Gap oxfords which are way nicer.

> Patterned Chambray Shirts

Again very thin, but I think it's actually for the better. I wear one of my Uniqlo chambrays two or three times a week when it's hot out because it's very light but doesnt wrinkle. However the second shirt has a weird problem where the edge of the placket folds over itself, and as a result I never really wear it. I have another chambray shirt from J Crew thats a lot thicker, and very nice for about the same price

> Flannels

These were a big disappointment for me. Like their other shirts, they're very thin, which is annoying because you want flannels to be thick and cozy. Also fit weirdly compared to my other Uniqlo shirts

> Sweatshirt

Another disappointment. They're baggy in the midriff and ride up on your waist. Makes you look really dumpy and out of shape.

> T-Shirts

Pretty good, and for the price there's no reason not to cop

> Linen Blazer

Seems like nice quality, very lightweight and good for Summer. Unfortunately it fits slimmer than their shirts, and I had to size up and get it tailored. The stupid fucking immigrant tailor basically mutilated it and now I never wear it. If there were any good fucking tailors in my city it would probably be a great jacket.

Overall pretty mediocre, but a good place to get basics if you don't have much money.

good. Great even. I have a soft touch coming, and if it is anything like the supima, then it will be goat. If they were SLIGHTLY longer, I'd never buy another t shirt anywhere else. But I'm overall p, happy with mine

>oxfords
I hated mine. It is think, wrinkles easily, and feels cheap. I wear J.Crew now. They do wrinkle as well. (The bottom rolls itself up) I have to iron them, but they fit so well and whenever I wear one people comment on how much they like the fabric so one point for j.crew

>Flannels
Are there better flannels? Yeah. But I don't feel ripped off for the price. They fit p. well, and they are PERFECT autumn weather shirts. A case of "I paid 30 dollars and got a decent value."

>Sweatshirt
I've only tried PBJ. The material is great. Nice and heavy, but the small was too small on me (weird as shit) I am sending it back and trying a medium. My fear is the torso is too boxy like it was on the small but might just be ribbing

>Blazer
fits weird as shit. Cop H&M's wool blazer prob.

>Sweaters
Have a slubby cotton on the way. I hear most of their sweaters are thin, but cop the cotton ones because they are good layering pieces for the price. Don't spend anymore than 30ish tho

>socks
Goat

>chinos
meh. They weren't all that special and not that slim. J.Crew 484 is better for me + I don't have to hem them

>Denim

Jury is still out on the wool dress pants. In general, if I'm following the trend of a lot of other dressier clothing from Uniqlo, J.Crew probably has ones that are a little better put together. But maybe this +J collection will prove me wrong. I dunno. I just don't find it worth it to tailor UNIQLO quality clothing if you feel me.

have you actually tried to shop at a target lately?

i know that japanese people consider uniqlo to be super-basic, but their clothing market is well-known to comprise higher-quality items than US counterparts.

if Target sold decent clothes, I'd be glad to wear them. But they don't. Uniqlo is closer to a Japanese American Apparel or Gap. Except better price-value than either.

you should absolutely get jeans and tees at uniqlo. one of the best quality/price ratios around for sure.

oxford/casual button downs are generally pretty good too. hoodies and sweaters are often good but not as guarenteed. i think their outerwear is kind of wack but some folks rock it well...

other stuff is not quite as fail-safe. don't get too trigger-happy or you'll end up with stuff you don't need.

much nicer than levis. im 5'11 150 lbs and theyre probably the best fitting pants ive ever had. sizing is normal. they'll be a little more relaxed before you wash them (unsanfordized) then shrink down to a nice slim fit (not too skinny). mine stretched right back to their original fit tho after 1 day of wear 8). only complaint is that the leg opening is slightly too big but the denim is nice and rigid so you can pinroll nicely

nice materials, but I wouldn't say warm. not bitterly thin & cold either. about $60 worth of warmness. great for fall layering with flannels or whatever. runs kinda small lengthwise for a parka, order a large if you arent a total manlet

>> No.8932744

I bought my first 3 Uniqlo items, and here is my report.

Background: I am a 174cm manlet babby who wears XS.

I purchased:
• Dry Packed Tee (The purple one that's on sale for $1.90)
• Suprima Cotton Tee
• 'Soft Touch' Longsleeve Tee

The Suprima Cotton Tee is LITERALLY perfect. I have trouble finding T-shirts that fit me well because I have short torso. I'm a big fan of this shirt.

The Dry Packed Tee fits like a box. I wasn't expecting a miracle, it was a throw-in with my order.

The 'Soft Touch' Longsleeve is a big disappointment for me. It just doesn't have a good fit at all and looks terrible on me. It's very drape-like and despite being the same length as the Suprima Cotton Tee, it looks remarkably longer when worn because the cut doesn't fit my body well. It is definitely soft but the material does have a bit of a 'cheap' vibe to it.
-----------------------------------------------------------

I'm curious to try the Suprima Cotton longsleeve since I like the Tee so much. If anyone has had both the Suprima long and t-shirt, are they comparable fits? If anyone has tried the Suprima and Soft Touch longsleeve, are there significant differences in the fit for you?

From what I understand, they are like 511s, but since the tapered are in between 510s and 511s, they might be a bit bigger. I Don't think they are a BAD cop if that's the size you are, since it is p. cheap selvedge.
But if nobody responds, take a risk and then share your results because I'd like to know as well.

511 is classic and 510 is skinny, right? So tapered is supposed to be skinnier than the slim straight?

All I know is I have some 513's that fit like straight up skinny jeans. Idk, I guess from shrinkage cause I have chicken legs.

Not him, but maybe I'll order some. Cheers anon. I just don't have enough tees that fit me well since I'm so skinny. (Used to like American Apparel, but I got ever so slightly bigger and they are uncomfortable and have lost their shape due to washes.)

>>8946877
Because for every bad quality item on there, there is also something that's p. good for the money.
For example - Merino Wool Sweaters/Cashmere are all shit and overpriced, but the cotton sweaters are p. good for like 30 bucks and make good layering pieces.
Graphic tees are all p. bad (I actually just bought a neat one tho so w.e) but their basic tees fit really well. From personal experience, they hold up really well in the washer and still feel nice and smooth.
It is about basics anon. Their outerwear is p. bad and I really am not a fan of the oxford material.
And for the record, GAP also has basics that work well for some people, and those Target Mossimo tees are actually p. good.

Again, I wouldn't recommend ANY of Uniqlo's outerwear. It is overpriced. Only thing I've seen that I like is that premium down parka in navy, but I don't trust uniqlo quality for 220, even if it is +J.

how do those uniqlo oxford shirts fit?
i am 6'5 80kg, quite lean - and really dig slim fitting shirts. can i go for M or should i take an S?

length of the sleeves has always been an issue, regardless of M or S - i'll just crop them anyway

Copping:
Plain white T's - It just fits perfectly
Cashmere V-necks and Cardigan - Good quality for the price
No show socks - Great price
Heattech long sleeve V-neck underwear: Nothing heavy duty but good to keep me warm where I'm from

Regretting:
Slim fit jeans - not tapered enough at the bottom
Plain white shirt: I should have got it 1 size larger

Tbh I thought about this, it's just that I really hate the idea of wearing J. Crew. I just know so many frat fucks at my uni that wear that shit and act like it's the ultimate in quality. Man J.Crew is goat for this stuff. I got a pair of chinos in 484 fit and everything about them is perfect.
Remember anon - it isn't about who wears something, it is about who wears it THE BEST.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. From an effay standpoint, J.crew has really good menswear basics for good quality. You could also try places like BanRep or something, but I wouldn't trust Uniqlo with something like trousers even if I was to tailor them yourself. Maybe on sale, but it really isn't a huge price gap retail price

>> No.8950354

>>8950331
I own an oxford from J. Crew that I wear every now and again and the fit is really weird. It's not too bad, especially if I wear it under a sweater, but it's just a really awkward feeling for me whenever I put it on under a Stephan Shneider sweater and Jil Sander coat.

This is the worst part about coming to /fa/ lol. I have no problem with wearing qlo with that stuff I mentioned, but J. Crew, which is better quality and can often be had for less than qlo prices if you hunt around on grailed, is just not effay enough.

Following up: nice color but pretty disappointing. $150 is not a lot for cashmere but even by the standards of cheap cashmere it feels meh. Also the fit is loose which is kind of bizarre for Uniqlo +J (I'm 6'1" and 170 lbs, I shouldn't have to wear a fucking small from a Japanese brand). I have a +J stretch cashmere sweater from the original +J years ago, and it feels a lot nicer and fits better.

tl;dr It's going back.
