Red Wing thread - post Red Wing related content

These are my Iron Rangers 3 weeks in. They're finally broken in enough that I don't need to wear plasters on my feet or thick socks. They're incredibly comfy now.

get some ice cutters or the briar oil slick ones with the lug sole, and make sure you condition with some leather protector stuff. Also, brush snow and shit off your boots when you get inside, don't let it sit. Wipe your boots clean at the end of every day. Try to avoid walking in deep snow when you can. They'll survive the winter if you do all this.

Oil them, I use red wing all natural leather dressing. When they start to look dry rub that shit in with your finger, use it sparingly.

Once they get to the point where they're grayish muted looking (around the 1 year mark of solid use, maybe sooner), polish them up with some brown polish (kiwi is fine) or you can skip that and go straight to wax, probably the better choice is to just use wax. I use alden brown wax.

>apply small amounts all across the boot with a rag
>hit it with a horse hair brush, using swift motions (it's all in the elbow)

I think this it it.

Remember, this is a mass production work boot, not a pair of fine traditional mens shoes. Each pair of shoes won't be cut from the same hide like with luxury shoemakers/bootmakers.

Prolly a bit of mix and match there.

Besides, the copperrufftuff is already a mottley sorta leather that will change patterns every time you wear it.
Best model IMO. Amber gets way too dark, especially when rubes slather coconut oil or obenaufs or some unnecessary shit all over it. Amber becomes an ugly muddy poo brown.
