I'm from the UK and you can certainly buy both types. The normal sportswear shops and official Adidas shops sell the shit version, more upmarket sneaker shops, department stores and independent boutiques like End, Oi Polloi etc., stock the better quality model.

I usually refer to it as the 2014 vintage model - suede heel tab, yellow sole and better quality leather and insoles.

Don't get Kent Wangs. I own a pair myself and I regret purchasing them.

I own a lot more expensive shoes, and CPs are definitely in my price range, I just didn't think that I would want white sneakers with a whole lot of my fits so I didn't think they were worth it. Turns out that white sneakers became my go-to once I got the KWs.

Anyway, Kent Wangs have a really shitty toebox, and the whole shoe looks really plasticy. This became less true over time, but the toe box is still shit.

Additionally, and this is the worse thing for me, is that I really hate that feeling when I put on an expensive outfit, wearing actual designers, but then I top it all off with a cheap pair of knock-off sneakers. Stan Smiths are nice because they have the benefit of not being a knock-off, they're a completely different aesthetic than CPs.

For minimalist white sneakers, just get stans. They're not as minimal as CPs, but they're minimal enough.

If you really need that minimalism, then I'd recommend Shoes Like Pottery. They're canvas, but they're very well made, and have a very nice texture that doesn't really make them seem too "canvas-y."

Btw, Stan Smiths are only chunky if you're wearing really tight jeans with them.

Most people say they fit TTS, and that's the case for me, but I have normal width feet and all that. Some people advise trying them on in store because they fit weird on them. I'd just buy a size 10 if I were you, you could just return them if they don't fit.

My white/blue cortez are my fav beater shoes, going on 4 years strong. Silhouette's a bit harder to work w/ cause of how 'thick' it looks w/ little taper until the toes then a really sharp drop, but I prefer that to the stan's w/ a thin middle and then a bulbous toe.

If you don't have shoe trees, go ahead and put paper in there or something. There's no point in buying additionally shoe trees, though.
