I've had these for 2.5 years, and the suede is still gorgeous. Indestructible if you take care of them. Sewing is starting to be flimsy, but that's OK after this long wearing them.
I bought them at 125 € (National Standard is a French brand), which is half the price for this quality.
9/10 would recommend to anyone wanting to invest in a decent pair of sneakers.

I actually don't like it, but I still use Vans as beaters. They fall apart too fast, 1 year is almost their lifecycle, 2 years - Vans are dead.

I'd buy something in earth-tone, cause I don't wear white sneakers with my fits, neither black, cause I have really good looking shoes in black, which are not beaters.

I'd be glad to use CPs as beaters, but CPs construction (I don't talk about quality) is so awful every pair fits different, it's pain in the ass finding them to fit, not too many stockist over here at my location, and of course they would not stock CPs in dark-green (well, are there any dark-green CPs out there in existence?).

That's largely a function of your style, wouldn't you say. If you only ever wear tees and polos, then a clean boot might not be great. But if you had lots of casual shirts and some fitted jackets you mix around, then a boot would work great in that situation. There's no one easy fix for dressing until you know what direction you want.
