Most people I've seen in photos wearing full goof are people working in the industry, whether its fashion writers, models, icons, etc. Makes sense that these people would feel comfortable wearing this stuff.

It might be different than what you are used to, but isn't a large part of enjoying fashion getting out of your comfort zone? I'm not saying everyone should go out and buy a manskirt, but hey I used to hate on drop crotch pants, but I tried on a pair and they are way too comfy

>> No.8641292

>>8641266
Some people are really self-confident, some people work/live in such a way that they don't feel the pressure to have to dress in a 'normal' or socially-acceptable way (or at least, not as much), and some people just don't care.

On that note, though, a lot of people seem to assume that being into fashion/dressing in Rick automatically means dressing 'full goof' everywhere you go, and honestly it's incredibly easy to assemble a great, relatively normal wardrobe out of Rick that'll suit you well wherever you go. I mean, suits? He's got you covered. Graphic tees? He's done that too, and well.

Opinions can change. Maybe one day you will wake up and see something about drop crotch pants you like. Or you can just not like them and that is fine. I think the overly long RO tees are too much like a dress. Not even a nice dress too.

Not sure if this is better or worse than last year's "How fake do Dreamboxes look" phase
Full Rick works because while distorting the silhouette, it usually isn't all that gaudy. If you understand how layering works and which colors work together, and have the necessary body (low bodyfat, muscles or not), you can pull off sick fits easily.
I guess there's a lot of new teenagers on here now that have neither money, nor insight into the fashion world to understand this. But, to all you newfriends; know that on this board we settle shit like this with a simple "post fit" and if you can't post a decent fit, your opinion is immediately discarded and you are the ridicule of the entire board and your parents are very dissapointed in you.

the more i think about it the more ridiculous it looks. if you're under the age of 40 and don't yet have exhibition at the whitney, then going full RO looks totally autistic

Just my pure opinion; I have never found a single piece from Rick that I actually liked. I find most of his pieces hideous, honestly. I guess we all see things differently, but I seriously do not understand his hype.

I was almost baited into this response before, but fine.
>going full Rick
What does this even mean, though? Rick, like most (all?) great designers, allows you to dress for whatever 'level' you feel comfortable with, and to look good and be comfortable doing it. Edgy, too. I mean, I could assemble a wardrobe entirely out of Rick pieces for you - Stooges, unstable tee, detroit jeans, combats - and how weird will that look? Not at all, you'll just look like a better-dressed regular person and be assured of the quality and design of your outfit. So using some expression like 'full rick' is meaningless, and saying that it 'looks autistic' (nice buzzword, and yes, I am aware that 'buzzword' counts as a buzzword) is not only meaningless, but stupid.

>>8642263
>I guess we all see things differenty
This.

"Full Rick" refers to the fact that a lot of Rick fans tend to only buy his pieces... And conversly, a lot of people who aren't much into him focus more on other Designers that work with similar themes (Julius, BBS, Damir, hell, even Anne D and such).
If i had the budget, I'd dress in Rick/Saint Laurent tho, since Rick doesn't make nice skinny jeans, for one

The only thing, if I had to, were his jackets from Fall '11. Those were pretty great, but not amazing. I appreciate his effort as a designer and approaches, but I'm just not a fan of his clothing. I'm being realistic with myself, really.

My favorite designers and/or fashion houses are SL, Acne, Givenchy (a lot of Tisci), McQueen, etc

the reason people are hostile to you is because you're being rude. if you say you don't like - hell, HATE - drop crotch trousers, it's completely cool and could lead to an interesting discussion about taste, preference, etc

if you say "i don't like drop crotch trousers because it makes the wearer look like they shat their pants/ugly/etc", then you're not giving critique, you're insulting me.

"i'm just voicing my opinion!"
yes, sure, you're entitled to your opinion, but if you're unable to offer critique without putting others down, maybe you should sit down and think about why that's the case? for your own sake, if anything - that mindset is an enormous roadblock and will only drag you down.
