Apparently their current build time is like 3 weeks (compared to 6-8 standard). The old owners are still there for little while, but once they leave then the new managers will be shoehorned in and that's when we'll start to see the slide.

Do it.
Do it now.

Get Beckmans instead of iron rangers. the iron ranger sole will make you fall on your ass, while the beckman sole is a bit better. and make sure you wipe the salt off of your boots otherwise that will fuck them up.

bean boots are good for all kinds of weather, sturdy as fuck. if you can rock the aesthetic they're nice.

That's why I'm such a fan of Allen Edmonds. Pic related is from "badowners". A site where some guy takes shoes from people who neglect/abuse them and hell do some basic refinishing work. Well for starters, I will come off as MFA as fuck but I love boots. They feel great to wear, they look good, and are functional. I have a pair of LL Bean Katahdins and I love these things. Great for winter months in Colorado.
The thing about boots is that they are a timeless design. For the most part, there isn't really a huge need to update the style because they are already so simple. Whereas sneakers have seen plenty of redesigns as time went on, any attempts to redesign the boot fell through. There isn't much else you can do to it. You can bet broguing I suppose, but that's about it.

Really, if you want a contemporary boot, you are better off looking at something with a sleeker profile. CDBs get a lot of shit because this place is terrified of MFA but at the end of the day they still look pretty good for the price. Other than that, maybe some Wolverine 1ks or some Alden boots . Personally, I like both but dressy boots aren't as functional as say a classic work boots obviously even though they look good.
It is basically a personal preference. I'd fancy some 1ks though I tell you what.

actually that's not true

soldiers and workmen invariably use the cheapest because that's what they can afford or that's what' they're issued

besides, in this day and age longevity of boots is not needed for soldiers and workmen boots because once they're worn out they can be cheaply replaced when they get fucked
best not to wear the same boots over and over anyway because you don't want them to fail when you need them most
hence a fresh pair when needed

>wolverine's
and there you reveal your ignorance I'm afraid

wolverine's boots, with the sole exception of 1 or 2 in the 1k mile range, are chinese made junk

they cannot be resoled, or if they can, the fact that the quality of the materials they are made out of (insole, outsole, uppers, stitching et. al.) means that there is no real point

there is a reason why red wings are so well regarded: they are cheaper or the same price as the 1k mile, they're all made in an american factory with high QC (better than the few american made wolverines any way) and the materials are good quality leading to a better boot.

>, just that there is better tech out there if u want something practical

you still haven't listed a single example of this

besides, we don't need practical, just nice looking and well made

shell and calf crease differently. calf doesn't always crease badly, but sometimes it does, and it's not necessarily linked to the quality of the leather. a lot of other factors can affect how badly a shoe/boot creases.

contemporary designs like what? something tech-ish with a bunch of synthetic materials and stretchy cords on them? sneakerboots? I don't see anyone saying that we need to change the basic shape of the shirt, or the classic pair of trousers. boots are a pretty simple design. there's no reason to stray too far from the many old boot designs out there.

and all the new "tech" going into shoes is mostly bullshit. these "old-timey" boots are actually very functional and comfortable.

w2c military style black boot for under $150?

I was considering Clarks Desert Mali all black, even though they're more formal looking and not at all a rugged military boot, but I'm afraid that if I get them in any rain or snow this upcoming season they'll be ruined. It rains like a bitch here and the snowier months aren't much better.

This color is nice too. Sort of a dark reddish brown. Don't know the effay name for it.

CDB's aren't meant for winter
You might have to look for something more expensive if you want a boot made for winter/rain (100%)

>> No.8621140

>>8621117

I could theoretically go up to $200 without completely breaking myself, it's just not very ideal and will pretty much blow out my effay budget for the last stipend I'm receiving at the end of my summer job.

I'm put off the CDB for now even though I love the look and would like to cop a pair. If there's a good way to treat a pair of normal boots for water resistance then I think that would be fine too. I can avoid puddles. Honestly, I'm MORE worried about the fucking salt than I am the snow. They salt the earth here like they're earning commission off of every square inch covered.
