that's because lighter skin shade more easily absorbs vitamin D. Lots of black people are deficient in these vitamins, even white people too. Living far up north there is little sun so the fitness trade off is the absorb more vitamins because the environment is difference. Or maybe it could just be that we reproduce and raise children before the cancer kills us so it stays in our gene pool, In hot places you would get cancer or other issues quicker with fair skin, giving darker skin an environmental advantage.
