Women have a tendancy to retain water during their menstral cycle. Don't worry so much about weekly weights as much as monthly. Try to lessen the variables when weighing yourself (e.g. same time of day, before a meal, after taking a dump e.t.c.)

Trust me, my sister had an eating disorder a few years ago (recovered now) and her muscle atrophy made her too weak to sit up in bed, before she was admitted to an in-patient facility. You'll tell yourself that you won't let it get that far but then it does. It's serious shit, not something to fuck around with. Go vegan and do pilates/cardio.

I say veganism because that's the quickest way to feel your body changing in a non-starving way, and people desperate to loose weight are craving that feeling. It's hard to maintain but it gives you the feeling that you're actively trying.

I say cardio and pilates because a) they balance eachother out; one sheds fat and one tones what's underneath and b) it's the easiest for someone just starting out. You don't need any equipment (just jog around the neighborhood and torrent an instructional video on pilates). Again, those are things that will show change and improvement quickly. Once you're where you want to be weight-wise, by all means branch out.

5 lbs is NOT the end of the world. Just make sure that program you're on is helping you lose weight at a healthy rate and get back on it. Really, little dips in progress are OKAY as long as you're on the right track the majority of the time.
